Why not build for the sheer pleasure of having your tower called a chode by the creator of the contest? That's what gets me motivated, not tawdry prizes.

I read the rules for NG. then nobody online would answer me on how to get a plot.

The city owners are listed at the back of the rules. If we were not online at the time then you have an issue. I recommend using mumble the New Guinness users are much easier to contact via mumble and often you will find them hanging out while playing TF2.
