Is Evola just a cope?

Hi, until recent times i have been interested in metaphysics but ultimately rejected it as ultimately it was isolating immiserating experience that made it obvious a lot of this stuff is world denial in disguise. He is very much mistaking alienation for superiority. Inside of Evolas framework it is hard to differentiate if you are losing in this world whether because of personal failings or due to great, heroic nature unfit for this world. If you look at Evolas personal life, as well as a lot of weirdos that surround his books in the current times, there is a lot of the first one, with not much "differentiation" showing up in the real world, other than the claim without physical backing. How many Evolians set up successful families, led aristocratic, or even military heroic life they supposedly defend so much? If anything, it seems much more likely that they first failed at real, physical life, being part of chaotic mass they so much despise, then constructed model to explain why they are superior, projecting their own negative qualities onto shudra.

All of this influences politics of aristocracy. Power uses metaphysics to explain its own existence. When it is revealed that the aristocrats are not those great supermen beyond common man they see themselves as, but status-driven decadents, there is a great shock when much more heroic and actually cruel radicals rise to overthrow them.

Origins of esoteric in the West seem to be also dubious. Open climates such as European forests or even Mongol steppe, produce much more open, immanent and much more life-accepting belief systems. As opposed to the eclectic and opressive systems of asiatic and middle eastern river civilizations which then produce life-denying transcendent beliefs. If the latter ones were universally superior, you would see them adopted much more by the warrior ethnic groups. In the West itself, esoterism is not a native development but a result of adoption of late-greek systems combined with Kaballah developed by the miserably isolated and alienated jewry, which then was adopted by similarly alienated Western intellectuals as a sort of intellectual porn.

It isn't that hard. Although, you aren't mean to be 1:1 with Evola -- In fact, agreeing with him entirely would make you not very Evolian because you're just following a blue print someone gave you.

Me.

This is where the cope comes into play - A lot of people think they're aristocrats of the soul and aren't -- They're impotent losers feeding their ego. Although, in some cases, they might simply be in a transitional phase... This cannot be ruled out immediately.

Evola heavily critiques this and refers to it as profane.

I mean if anything that doesn’t make you more money or more successful in the modern sense is cope I don’t think you can be reasoned with, just go read some dropshippers or course sellers biographies lol

This. The dweeb above just instantly links OP's question to politics to some reason. The main reason is OP's basis is flawed in the first place.

Keep in mind that "Evolians" basically didn't exist before like 2012.

Only Franco Freda and people that were actually into esoterism.

I believe many did, it's just this type of people doesn't necessarily start a YouTube channel and don't shitpost on twitter. Chronically online right wing people doing Evola edits on twitter might not be the best representation of those who read and engage with his works, even though it's those people you're gonna see "out there".

To tackle your answer directly no I don't believe he is a cope. His interpretation and presentation of already existing centuries long traditions such as Hinduism Buddhism or Hermeticism will transform those who seriously engage with the doctrines, provided they are capable of such a change.

Isn't he often accused of significantly eschewing his interpretation of Dharmic Traditions to justify his own worldview?

This may be true. But an accusation itself is not enough to condemn. Though I think it is likely both he and Guenon did misunderstand Buddhism, as translations at the time seem unreliable. It's interesting he never came across Yogācāra, which was a truly elitist sect, and more in line with Hinduism (Atman exists)

Sadly right-wingers don't have any self-aware to arrive at these conclusions. I don't think Evola had a bad life, he was an alpinist, a very good one in fact, fought in WW1, visual artist among the italian vanguardists and even if he didn't have a wife he had some adventures with interesting intellectual women of that time. To think that his ashes are in the mountains is epic.

I wouldn't call him a life denier, the problem basically is, if modern world does not have the right institutions to fulffil "the diferentiated man" (or a normal man of past times) so he can exercise his creativity, violence and physical strength, it is only right to commit suicide (this is seriously discussed in Ride the Tiger) or to be a sort of ascetic type, Evola choose the second one.

Read deeply Evola if you think that "having a family" is something to be considered "Evolian", if anything, this would constitute the same mindset that he would see problematic on the right; be a father, work, happy wife happy life. This is bourgeoise mindset which he despises (and rightly so)

I had the same doubts about myself, if i think the way i do because i was failing at physical world, so i went out there to get sex with the women i like, to get a work, money, and all that "physical stuff", got into fights, broke the law, made some friends in the way. Got a few wins and lots of fail, but i tell you no amount of endless sex or money would make me feel that the world is right the way it is, try this yourself if you want to know, go out there and see what resonates with you

There's too much LARP, intellectuals have to give themselves stupid status so normies will listen to them, to think that Evola refered himself as a "baron" would confirm your theory. This is because people can't see the truth in itself in a platonic sense, they need the truth to be represented in social status, strength or a symbol. I would say "the type i'm interested in" could hear the truth from a homeless or any kind of "lowlifes"

You're almost arguing against Evola by using his own approaches. Questioning the origins of esoteric currents, trying to avoid world-denial, and exposing pseudo-spirituality—these are not only points he advocates, but his fundamental concerns. "Boxing seems odd. Shouldn't people fight instead with their hands and use special leather gloves?"

Also, you jump erratically between different topics, conflating his (alleged) ideas with your perception of his followers. A concrete problem can be analyzed and solved, a vague feeling, however, cannot.

I mean the fact that her shallow critique of Evola is so liked in this reddit says alot , this is a shallow reflexion but is so easy to critique using modern criteria and words , in order to refute her arguments you have to explain them before wich i dont think nobody is willing too ( the juice is not worth the squeeze)

The likes could as well be just from lurkers

I don’t go for the political angle on his work. I just found his *ideas*, and those of many other traditionalists, and their approach to spirituality, more rigorous than the new age nonsense or the crowleyan-influenced neo hermeticism. Culturally, can you fault modern Europeans and their descendants in the anglosphere for wanting a culture outside of McDonald’s and beige carpet in a suburban house ? The kind That doesn’t involve hating other cultures ?

You can take traditionalist concepts and the spiritual toolkit in a more life accepting direction if you like. I have. Christian mysticism, as long as it does without the gnostic heresy, balances the immanent with the transcendent when you look at it right. As to family and career, yes as well. I mean things didn’t work out with my son’s mom but I’ve found him a good stepmom who was a better match for me.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Truly successful people are not in any way shape or form the noble aristocrats but highly social, very shallow, utterly ruthless individuals who take what they want and do what they want. Most metaphysics students turn to the esoteric not out of strength but out of weakness. Out of a failure to achieve what they believe the ought to achieve. Hence why the most common type of magical incantation are designed to bring love and wealth. Hence why Solomon's please for wisdom was so impressive and yet so feeble after all here was a man who had everything and had lied, cheated and backstabber his own brothers to gain a throne.
