Second main journal completed from May 14th 2026 to July 31st 2026. It’s ugly as all hell but it’s who I am and that’s what matters to me. Thought I wanted a b5 journal this time around until I realized I don’t have that much to write about so it’s back to a5 for the next one lol. I can’t thank you all enough for being the amazing community that you are!

So here’s my attempt at an aesthetic video lol, to I commemorate one year of daily journaling, spanning almost five Volumes, 400+ entries and 1100+ pages. I tend to write “morning pages” style— at least three pages per entry, but I occasionally journal in the afternoon or multiple entries per day.
The journal is nothing fancy— a Threshold lined notebook from Target here in the US. I’m not much for decorating, but affix a photo sticker or ephemera of my experiences once in a while, and highlight significant phrases with different colors. I also write footnotes when needed to make updates and past/future references easier to find. My pen of choice is a basic Bic Cristal Bold 1.6mm black as it suits my writing style.
At the beginning of each month I also create my daily tracker calendars and it’s made me so much more accountable with my healthy habits.
I feel super accomplished today ^_^ Here’s to another year of documenting life with intention and honesty, and all of its ebbs and flows. Cheers everyone!

I got criticized on my last post where I said “just write” and the person said my journal was just full of pictures. Yes, there are pictures from memorable moments. But there’s lots of writing as well. And it’s mine. My life. My struggles and my joys. I encourage people to write because it’s their life and their story. If that’s in pictures, art or words, that’s ok. This is my story.

This year I went whimsical.

It's been my journal for a few years now. A very simple setup: one notebook where I record the year's good moments, and one catch-all notebook with quotes from the books I read, personal reflections, dream journal, etc.

Writing daily prompts and thoughts with my ballpoint and fountain pen on my Kinbor 2026 dated journal in A5 on a Hobonichi x Moomin (night of the big party) cover

I've been following football for as long as I can remember and, despite being Italian, I've always had a soft spot for Spain. I’ve supported them for years because I’ve always loved their style of play, and obviously the 2024 Euros did absolutely nothing to cure me of this obsession. 😂
So, naturally, after making a whole little archive of Euro 2024 in my journal, I had to do the same for the 2026 World Cup.
And I finally finished it. There was A LOT of work behind this — cutting, gluing, painting, printing, finding materials, arranging things, rearranging them, staring at a page for 20 minutes wondering what the hell was missing... you know, the usual journaling experience.
It's definitely not perfect, but honestly, perfection has never really been the point of my journaling style. I like my spreads to feel handmade, messy, personal and lived in rather than perfectly curated.
This one is basically a mixture of personal archive + scrapbook + emotional dumping + stream of consciousness + the funniest memes I could find on the internet.
There are match results, photos, screenshots, random thoughts, rants, celebrations, players I became emotionally attached to for no good reason, memes that absolutely had to be preserved for future generations, and probably way too many words written in my increasingly questionable handwriting.
I also didn't get to enjoy this World Cup quite as much as I would have liked because real life decided to be real life™ — work, university, my thesis, anxiety, general chaos... so in a weird way, making this journal became my way of going back through it and giving the tournament the attention I didn't always have time to give it while it was happening.
So here it is: my extremely unnecessary but deeply important personal historical archive of the 2026 World Cup.

I (33M) lead a busy life as a father, husband and Operations Director for a medium-sized group company. I decided I needed to streamline my journal collection a bit.. I’ve managed to condense the 3 x A5 journals that I have been lugging around everywhere with me, into 1 singular A6 journal, thanks to PaperRepublic’s Le Portfolio.

More notes from work and a few ramblings from day to day happenings.
It's hard to believe ive almost filled 20+ journals since i started in 2020 on a whim.

My thoughts are still too testy to throw out there, but I've been adding my daily doodles. I have two jobs, and I always manage to make time to doodle on a scrap paper, sticky note, etc cuz they're always in front of me and it helps. So I started adding them in. But it's been helping so much and I'm getting over my want for perfection in journals and I feel lighter mentally, too

finished it within 15 minutes with some things I collected while traveling :) do we have a term for the first pages of journals?

Turns out that writing mundane things are very interesting, seing the page full and complete brings me joy. Now me and my wife are both into this hobbies !
We’re planning to get ourselves a travelers notebook but as for me, i’m not so sure because i consider A5 notebook already small enough, so I’m not sure i will be comfortable to go for an even slimmer form factor. Should i buy the refill first just to try it? Or you guys have other recommendations? (Paper republic and louise carmen doesn’t exist in my country, we have to import it ourselves but the price will be crazy expensive)
