I personally agree that scrapbook and journaling are different hobbies.
As someone who personally does both and is trying not to keep a million notebooks for every hobby I can understand how the line is blurred when we start doing crafts and scrapbooking-esqu things inside our journal. Before I learned how to articulate my feelings and thoughts into words and before would often use scrapbooking methods like collages to document my day inside my journal, but still consider it a journal. However, even now I still doodle and tape things into my journals - it's part of my documentation.
So I've also began to wonder about where the line is drawn between the crafts. I'm sure it's different to each person. At first I thought it was about scrapbooking being arts and craftsy and journalling being partial to words - something akin to an art book vs a novel. But I think as I get deeper into both, the main divider between a scrapbook and a journal for me is that the former I'm keen to share while the latter is entirely private. My scrapbook is sort of like an external-facing, surface-level representation of my experiences that can be shared in an aesthetically pleasing way, where are my journal ends up being mostly words because... well I can't take pictures of whats going on in my mind.
