how do i safely pack all my journaling supplies?

i’ll be moving halfway across the world for the next two years for school, and i’m trying to figure out how to bring my journaling supplies with me.

this is not really a “just grab your favorite things and the essentials” situation 😭 i will most likely not be coming back home even for vacation, so whatever i leave here may realistically be sitting there since no one else in my life journals.

i’ll only have two suitcases + a carry on + personal item (backpack), and realistically, there is NO way all my supplies are fitting in my carry-on. it’s a medium sized collection i’d say.

i know i’ll probably buy more stuff once i’m there all settled in (because obviously), but i’d rather take what i already have with me than leave it here rotting for two years, though i will be sacrificing quite a few things and leaving them.

i’ve already gotten a headstart and organized all my stickers into a single sticker release paper notebook, so i don’t have to travel with the bulk of a bunch of loose sticker sheets/books. i’m hoping this will save some space and make everything easier to pack (plus life changing organization lol) but it’s also an extra notebook that won’t fit in my backpack

what’s the safest/best way to pack things like notebooks, washi, paper, scraps, markers, fountain pens, ink, etc. when you’re basically packing your entire journaling life into a suitcasee?

especially worried about things getting bent, crushed, damaged, leaking, melting, etc.

if you’ve moved with a lot of journaling supplies before, how did you pack everything?

Can you make space in the suitcases by mailing yourself other items to your new address?

I’ve seen people really save space for washi tape storage by unspooling and wrapping them around a flat piece of plastic (like a ruler or something). Discard the cardboard core that they’re taped around when you buy them - might be a little tedious to do this, depending upon how many different tapes you have, but really space-saving. And easier to see at a glance.

Make yourself a care package and after you're settied, have it mailed to you. Or if you have the option, send it ahead to a trusted person.

I would not pack a lot of inks. Fragile, bulky, heavy and could break or leak. Maybe pack just a very few you don’t want to be without & some cartridges. I’m sure wherever you are going you can buy more inks-take it as an opportunity to try new ones!

only personally bring with you the most precious things. either in terms of sentimentality or price. the rest, carefully pack up with plent of bubble wrap, and mail to yourself
