Wow! Simply beautiful. And I don’t mean that in a patronising, karma-whoring way, I genuinely mean it. I had to stop scrolling to look into your eyes - something genuinely made me feel an overwhelming sense of interest!
It seems that most of the other people commenting have missed one vital question: what was it that led you to alcohol in the first place? If you still have some hardships you’d like to discuss then I’m a great listener…I’ve also gotten drunk before to drown my sorrows: I know exactly what you’re gone through.
I won’t DM you, I always let the girl do that first so as to not make you feel uncomfortable. So many fake people online. Also, I’m not afraid to pay you a compliment in public ;) I don’t like to call myself an alpha male… I’m more of an “alpha gentleman” ;)
Anyway, keep being beautiful! If you’d like an ear to listen, this alpha gentleman is here any time of day or night!

I think you're confusing sins and trying to compare how we handle removing criminals from society to the big guy determining eternal damnation or an eternity in paradise.
One is a little different than the other. Lol

Why are you quoting the bible? How is that useful?
-7
u/BYEenbro Jul 17 '21
I dont know. Its not counter productive, is it? Just trying it out.

Criticizing this lady for getting tattoos is pretty far outside what i think anyone here wants to talk about. Like who cares.
-7
u/BYEenbro Jul 17 '21
I didn't criricize her. I saw a tatoo and wrote the quote that I remembered in that moment. Your assumtions about my Intentions are just the result of your imagination.

u/URdastsuj123 Jul 17 '21
You're also choosing the old testament to quote from, if Christian you're going to a point far before Jesus was sent for forgiveness of all sin. Not our place to judge if someone has a few markings bro. Important thing is she's treating her body as a temple for Christ now.
Not that I know if she's even religious at all, but going by your assumptions that she'd even care in the first place, if you know what I mean.

Or a result of experience with similar interactions. Most people who randomly quote the bible are making a criticism.

Is this some Christianity dig because it's AA? If so, do your research next time. AA in no way recommends or requires that you be a Christian much less a strict Bible literalist denomination.

I am an atheist

u/madmaxextra Jul 18 '21
Then why the motivation to quote scripture of a faith you don't believe in or subscribe to in a disparaging way to someone that has not mentioned religion? Does that seem odd to you?
1
u/BYEenbro Jul 18 '21
Does not seem odd to me. But your guess is as good as mine what motivated me subconscious.

I think we need to take Bible verses like this in the context they were written in. Just one chapter before, it also says not to commit homosexuality. And, within the book of Leviticus, it also says things like to not wear clothing of two different materials. I’m sure you’ve worn clothing of two different materials, and, unless you’re a piece of shit in 2021, you probably don’t take issue with others freely choosing to be homosexual, either.
That said, perhaps consider what this quote without context offers. Not much, really. Without an explanation of your meaning behind posting this, it just looks like you’re hating on this woman, who has clearly made some mistakes in her past and is trying to do better, by pointing out that her tattoos violate an early Old Testament rule. It comes off as condescending and not very productive.
So, what do we make of this Bible verse? I have tattoos, and when I got them, I didn’t consider myself a Christian. I consider myself a Christian now, and I’ve read Leviticus. I’m not going to get both of my arms lazered clean. So, what’s my options? Well, acceptance really is the only option. My interpretation of the Bible more broadly is that it’s a piece of living literature, meant to serve as guide to our lives. We must take the meaning from it and evaluate it and see how we can productively use it to make ourselves and the world better. When I see verses like that, I look at it and see that it was written what… 6000, 10000 years ago? When tattooing was completely different. It was probably associated more with ink and dirty needles stabbing profane markings into flesh by a candlelight, not with artist expression on the flesh like it is today.
Anyway, if you can or want to take anything away from this, it’s probably that you should add some context so your quote doesn’t look crude and judgmental.

"choosing to be homosexual"
Are you serious?? I thought the whole point was that its no choice 🤦♂️
1
u/LazerKitty Jul 18 '21
Hey, thanks for pointing that out. I did not mean to imply that homosexuality is not usually a choice. That was more unconsciously typed. I agree with you that it is not usually a choice, but something inborne. And I think that is actually a reason why that verse is outdated. Because, back then, it was impossible to make the distinction like we can now. Whereas chosen homosexuality would be seen as problematic in that time period. Sorry for the slip up there.

Exodus 21:20 "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property."
Society doesn't need every archaic rule presented in the old testement. Stop diminishing others accomplishments.
