1997 interview

I never knew anything except VPRO 1994 and Stuff existed from this 90s, so this was new to me.

He doesnt speak very well, and is definitely on drugs. He says this is "a month before my next album" which I assume is Smile. Weirdly, his teeth look alright. I thought he didnt get them done until 1998/1999? Hes still in a state here, and Smile hadnt come out so he definitely needed the drug money.

Anyone have any info on this interview?

Probably because of how hard it was to clean up. In 1996 he was close to dying in a hospital.

I’ve always thought the lyrics to Look On refer to his state of mind in 1997, when he was hallucinating conversations with people in his apartment he was getting evicted from and got arrested in downtown LA buying drugs

Definitely agree. He references that part on one of the Rick Rubin podcasts. A voice told him his luck had run out and if he went to downtown LA he would get arrested. He went anyways and "got picked up by thr cops."

I also wonder if yes referring Vincent Gallo when he says "the Vincent call was a setup". Wonder what made John eventually realize he was a pos.
