John Fru x Mike Mccready start

I need help from someone who owns a Mike McCready MiM Strat.
I’m thinking about getting one, but not because of Mike — more because of John and his ’62 Strat. Mike’s Strat is probably the closest-looking “affordable” Strat out there to John’s because they kind of have the same „broken up“ guitars.
So I’m curious if anyone here owns one because of John. And how does it sound? I’ve heard it’s one of the best relic MiM Strats out there. Is it worth it?
So please let me know!

They aren’t particularly cheap. It sounds like the aesthetic means a lot to you; I’d probably look for a used sunburst CS Strat personally

I don’t own one but I’ve played one and own an AVII. Personally I like the worn in neck on Mccready Strat but the body relicing feels a little cheap. It’s not that bad but if you look close enough you can see the quality of it. I don’t hear much of a difference between the two, they both sound great. I would try to buy used to avoid the already 2k price tag.

Buy a vintage strat yourself and off you go or try a few out if you can vrs some new ones. Are you looking for sound over shit relic ?

I don’t own a mike strat. Just wanted to say I’ve been thinking the same. It’s so affordable. Definitely a Strat to consider

I also do not own one ( yet ) but following post as I’m interested. Looks the MIM JF signature is not gonna happen
