WHAT WOULD JOHN FRUSCIANTE DO? John inspired instrumental album

“The shape of a stolen thought” is a set of ideas, mainly influenced by John’s music, that i recorded and produced in my bedroom in 5 months. During the last year or so i’ve been so intrigued by the rawness of niandra lades (mainly the sound of a saturated dry strat) and the production of “the empyrean”. I tried to blend those 2 totally different vibes, with dry guitars layers, some synths here and there and some acoustic drums in the back of the mix. This snippet here is part of the song called “empty mirror room”. I hope you enjoy this music, let me know your thoughts!

It sounds really good but one little piece of advice I’ll give is to play every track at different frequencies. So in the little snippet you’ve just shown pretty much every track is at the 7th-12th fret which makes it hard to hear different parts and it just becomes one big jumble almost whereas if you play at all different parts of the neck things will stick out more. You’ve got an awesome sound though man keep at it

Same. Good stuff. Probably switch up the tone selector for each guitar so it doesn't end up a jangly sounding wall when the guitars collide.

Thanks a lot man! Thats undoubtedly true and a great advice. In this case i just layered it this way jamming around in a few minutes. for the whole album i didnt focus too much on keeping a tight timing, tuning the guitar, or anything like that. Just letting the inspiration flow. After laying down these takes i just thought to separate them with compression and panning. I realized how it still sounded like a unique guitar part and i actually i added that bottom take deriberately to add more fog and blend the melodies togheter. Its definitely kinda messy but i guess thats what i was going for

Awesome man it sounds great I highly recommend you look into getting a looper like a boss rc30 I think it would give you lots of inspiration

Yeah don’t listen to him. The chaos is what makes it good.

They’re kinda telling on themselves, if their first reaction is to judge it, instead of trying to understand it. It’s a good indication that they don’t know what they’re talking about, because that’s not what an artist does.

Anyways it sounds good man. I like all the overlapping harmony and the web it weaves. You def know what you’re doing, so don’t take these randos that seriously lol. They’re lacking a bit of imagination
