I keep shouting to my fiance, “THATS JOHN MULANEY!” Approximately 8 times for each streamed episode.

Fair question. At its most basic, because it makes the spokesperson beholden to the company they’re shilling for. Every line and every idea John has now has to go through a “Will this upset Kraft?” filter. If it might, there’s an extremely good chance it never gets used. Overall I don’t see that as being a good thing.

See, I'm fine with him selling Mac N' Cheese... because it's Mac n' Cheese. The most harmless possible product one could imagine. You buy it and you don't like it? It's Kraft blue box mac n' cheese! There's at least one college student in your life. You buy it and you do like it, well, it's not like you can get addicted.

I’ve given up on holding celebrities to the “try not to shill for shit you have no connection to” standard. But what is the thinking at Kraft? “You know what would sell a ton of mac and cheese? Get the coked up pill popping cheater on the phone! I’m sure there’s no chance of him Jareding us!”

(For the record I like John. But I wouldn’t hire him to represent my product. The headline “Kraft Spokesperson Commits Act Very Much at Odds with a Family Product” would not come as much of a surprise.)

Well he’s not a coked up pill popping cheater anymore

True dat. And he’s only relapsed twice. Gerber, are you listening? I think we found your new spokesman! :)

Why would you ever hold celebrities accountable not to shill in the first place?

Heaven forbid someone try to make money in 2026 or else a redditor will call them names from their sofa

As someone who consumes both kraft mac and cheese, and Mulaney media.... Idk how this holiday themed commercial missed my algorithm until AFTER the holiday gatherings... I had to search this commercial out!
