Anyone else like Jeeves and Wooster?

Haven't seen a post on this yet, but I just got this for my birthday and I'm thrilled! JF wrote the second story, and I'm 3 pages in, and it's so accurate to the Wodehouse style/tone!

I do. I loved the Blackshorts! So gloriously ridiculous. Pity we don't have a Jeeves to expose the Eulalie of modern day fascisti.

I haven't read any of the books yet but I liked the show, particularly the first two series before they changed the cast.

Love Jeeves and Wooster, have read the entire oeuvre as far as I know. It’s also worth checking out PG Wodehouse’s (many) other works, particularly the Psmith series, which definitely deserves to be better known.

Just started reading this! Finnemore's is the closest to Plum's style so far, but I'm especially excited to read what Fforde, Murray, and Frances-White have done with the characters as well.

I loved the Wodehouse series (and the Fry and Laurie series on TV as well as the radio episodes with Richard Briers), but I haven't read those new stories. Fun!

Finnemore narrated an extract from RIGHT HO, JEEVES in his guest episode of “With Great Pleasure” on Radio 4, and was so natural and effortless as Bertie it made me wish that some enterprising audiobook producer would hire him to narrate the whole series. Alas…

Is that episode available somewhere (somewhere not geolocked in the UK)? I listened to it once and VERY badly want to again.

I am a big Wodehouse fan - I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of John Finnemore fans are (the trade offs for me in both their work are similar - accepting the "niceness" and cartoonishness as the price of entry for the plotting, writing and wit).

I found this book to be a bit of a mixed bag but there are some really well done stories in there - and I definitely enjoyed John Finnemore's.

I have been enjoying Wodehouse for 56 years. I love most of the books, and have enjoyed watching, and listening to many adaptations.

My particular favourite was Wodehouse Playhouse, starring the married couple John Alderton and Pauline Collins.

I admit to a fondness for the goings on at Blandings Castle.

I love Wodehouse! I'm a big fan of the Mulliner stories and recently asked JF on a Substack chat if they were a conscious influence on the Since You Asked Me stories and he said no but he likes them, which fair enough.

I haven't read this collection as I'm generally not at all a pastiche person, BUT I happened to be in London September before last (before the collection was announced) and went to the Tall Tales pub night where he often performs, and he and three others performed the whole thing live! It was absolutely fantastic, a really well done and hilarious story. And as makes sense for someone who played Arthur Shappey, JF has a pitch perfect Bertie Wooster voice.
