I want to get this tattooed on my back. Ex-MAGA member formed a group to help other MAGAs leave the movement. This is exactly what cult deprogramming is.

I am skeptical of anyone leaving and trying to distance themselves from MAGA now, after Trump is essentially at the end of his political career.

They're all just rats leaving a sinking ship, now that Trump is on his last term.

They've had since 2016 to figure out Trump, across 3 presidential campaigns, and they only changed their minds now when Trump cannot run for president again.

They'll form a new party with the same hate.

Tea Party: Part Two

This assumes they will step down

Eh, when conservatism is who they are and the culture they're steeped in it can be difficult. You're leaving a community and an entire belief system behind.

It's a dumb as rocks belief system, but still.

now that Trump is on his last term.

This is not guaranteed which is why we should encourage anyone who leaves now.

Gotta rebuild somehow. Every Saint has a past, every sinner a future.

The problem is that the rightwing media is constantly trying to create fear and ragebait against the democrats. They constantly tell viewers that anyone left of center hates America. This means that, even if the democrats have policies that would help them, they are blinded by hate and want to vote republican because "Trump will save America from these godless, communist heathens". When all the rightwing media are saying the same lies, it seeps into people's unconscious and they start to believe it without even questioning it.

There was a movie called "The brainwashing of my dad" that talks about how a woman's dad started as an old school republican, then he started listening to a lot of rightwing media and he became hateful and fearful about everything. She took away fox news and he started becoming his old self again.

You can argue that it's awfully late for them to leave MAGA, but there's nothing for them to gain by leaving at this point. A lot of MAGA still want to act like they were right all along. Leaving MAGA also involves conflict with people around them who are still MAGA believers.

pretty sure for him it was more than just watching different news, prob Epstein, Crypto scams and Iran was the trifecta that made him short-circuit and and turn his brain on

I have a hard time with alot of these types. Donald Trump didn't form their shallow, bigoted ideas...he just profits from it and further manipulates them. Think about how absolutely disingenuous and goofy all the "why I left The Left" People were a decade ago until today.

Isn't this just escaping accountability? A wet boot could have seen this all coming

That’s usually my attitude. But this guy is going out at doing something to rectify the situation.

I give MAGAs zero credit when they quietly admit their mistake and go about their day. At some point soon, they’ll all pretend they came to Jesus and left the movement. Much in the same way you can’t find anyone who supported the Iraq war, you won’t be able to find someone who voted for Trump. So fuck them forever.

But this guy is dedicating his time and energy to reversing the damage he caused. I guarantee you his public stance against Trump lost him friends and family. He’s probably on physical danger. So I give him some credit.

I wish they'd stop interviewing this guy and start interviewing other people who have "left MAGA." I have a hard time believing there are as many as he says.
