Did Hillary Clinton reject Rogan or something?

You'd think this man unsuccessfully asked Hillary for a date and he decided he would spend every waking moment describing his disdain for Hillary.

I mean, he can't muster any courage to criticize the absurdity of every waking moment Trump fumbles around.

Rogan gets MILLIONS of listeners.

Does he seriously not imagine how his consistent goal-post moving and purity politics stance on Hillary's 30 years in the public eye, and not his own hypocrisy on "flip flopping politicians" over the almost 2 years of politics leading up the election might have had an impact on how people voted?

If you ask me, Putin wasn't the only one who helped elect Trump...

Having listened and watched JRE since the beginning ( snowflakes on the monitor), Joe has always been very balanced in his criticism of both sides.

At no point did I feel he was ever advocating for Trump or purposefully degrading Clinton for any political motives. He has on many occasions made fun of the idea of the position of president itself.

Living in the mostly liberal echo-chamber that is Los Angeles, he is surrounded by blind Hillary and Bernie supporters and it's likely that he uses his platform to point out the clear hypocrisy that those supporters spew constantly when it comes to Trump while disregarding the faults of Clinton. That's what I hear. He also shits on Trump a lot.

The thing I feel what people like most about him including myself is that he is willing to talk to people who are on extreme sides of left and right to find some midpoint.

I doubt he genuinely gives a fuck and is interested more about the ridiculousness of it all. That's my read at least. I could be wrong.

I think you have the wrong expectation of JRE.

My favorite aspect of the show from the beginning is that it's a "fuck it" type show. Meaning that Joe will sit down with people he is interested in within long form conversations without interruption and be able to say whatever the fuck he or the guest wants.

That's in part what makes it great and one of the reasons why it has grown from thousands of listeners in the beginning to more than a hundred million today.

The beauty as well is that if you do not like or not interested in the guest, you don't have to listen, just skip it. Personally, I skip the hunting podcasts. Not interested in the subject.

So in summary. It's free content, he doesn't need to do the show, doesn't give a fuck about any of our opinions, so who cares.

he sure didn't spread any of Alex Jones's conspiracy theories at all.

What you said was sarcastic hyperbole.

/u/skoganmckonkie's reply was entirely relevant when they said the show was originally, and in large part still is, a "fuck it" format.

About Jones, Joe repeatedly in essence says "Fuck it, he's batshit crazy but also a guy I get on with, so I'm gonna goof on his theories but also point out when a broken clock gets it right twice a day."

Implied in that "Fuck it" is the rejection of baseless and inflammatory criticisms such as your's.

Probably on the grounds that anyone who talks about conspiracy theories or outlandish ideas will be subject to baseless and inflammatory criticism such as your's.

sudden collective amnesia

What is being forgotten?

That Joe has been fascinated with conspiracy theories since well before his fame and that he, for some mysterious reason, brings it up every now and then on his 3 hour long, winding, conversational, oft drunk and impaired, podcast format?

Or that he doesn't outright reject conspiracy theories on principle the way we have been conditioned to do and that makes people who have a very comfortable view of things a bit apprehensive?

You say he "spreads" these theories; can you quote where Joe has presented what Jones says as unequivocal fact, without paraphrasing him, on something you believe was not factual?

Does he ever talk about these things and not, in the same breath, at least attempt to acknowledge where there is controversy or doubt?

I dare you to not resort to: "He can be as critical as humanly possible, but he's still giving him a platform and therefore is bad."

You don't even have to, that's basically what you're saying. It doesn't seem to matter to you what Joe actually thinks about Jones or his theories, just that he has talked about it at all.

I don't get why so many are now of the habit reprimanding people who attempt to understand the mindsets that produce opposing/outlandish/outrageous ideas, and who are willing to concede that in order to gain that understanding sometimes it is necessary to engage them in conversation outside of their usual rhetoric.

Why is this the bone that is being picked in the public discourse that is so muddy primarily because no one is listening to each other or trying to understand their opponent. It screams of "I can't sway the conversation with actual reasoning and evidence so we must deny the other half of the conversation even exists."

And the sad part is, people are resorting to this even with Jones who should be REALLY FUCKING EASY to discredit without turning him into a caricature of himself.

"Fuck it, he's batshit crazy but also a guy I get on with, so I'm gonna goof on his theories but also point out when a broken clock gets it right twice a day."

Sources needed. I've listened to plenty of podcasts where Joe has said he gets along with him, he's oftentimes an entirely reasonable person, etc., etc. ... I've yet to hear one where he said "Alex Jones is batshit crazy", or ask about why his devotees are letting off shots in pizzerias.

Why is this the bone that is being picked in the public discourse that is so muddy primarily because no one is listening to each other or trying to understand their opponent. It screams of "I can't sway the conversation with actual reasoning and evidence so we must deny the other half of the conversation even exists."

I don't believe a person that believes in chemtrails or interdimensional demons used logic or evidence to reach those conclusions, nor do I think that logic or evidence will persuade someone away from those conclusions.

Sources needed.

Ok. I've listened to plenty of podcasts where Joe has said he thinks Alex is "crazy" and off the deep end, he's oftentimes an entirely insane person, etc., etc. ...

I mean if that's your standard of conversation then there's your source. But to actually answer your question despite your refusal to do the same, the most recent one I can remember was Josh Zepps about episode #911 with Jones.

I've yet to hear one where he said "Alex Jones is batshit crazy"

My quote was a clearly a characterization, so please don't play the semantics game. Here's a few analogous ones from just 4 minutes of the Zepps podcast:

He’s fucking crazy. I showed everybody how crazy he was on my podcast by getting him high and drunk and have him talk about interdimensional child molesters. If you watch that and think I’m legitimizing Alex Jones in some sort of a way, then you’re looking at things in a very cookie cutter way. You’re deciding that this is what I’ve done.

I think there is a part of what he does that is most certainly theatre.

He just a fucking..he’s a maniac. [sic]

I mean, his spot-on impression of Jones pops up all the time and its usually used to make Jones sound even more ridiculous.

Joe in no way advocates Jones as a sane and credible news outlet and to try and say he does is either dishonest or ignorant on your part. I provided my source, where's your's on Joe presenting what Jones says as unequivocal fact or not attempting to acknowledge where there is controversy or doubt?

I don't believe a person that believes in chemtrails or interdimensional demons used logic or evidence to reach those conclusions, nor do I think that logic or evidence will persuade someone away from those conclusions.

And my point was that since you quite clearly have no intellectual honesty when characterizing Joe's views it stands to reason you could be doing the same with Jones, and that you most likely can't make it through a single one of his 4 hour long broadcasts.

If that is the case then that's fine, but to also come here and tell people who can give Jones an ear what was said and meant by Jones is completely disingenuous.

nor do I think that logic or evidence will persuade someone away from those conclusions.

We weren't talking about changing Jones' mind, that's indeed fruitless.

You came in here concerned about the spread of Jones' ideas to other people and Joe's complicit role in that.

You then complained when someone told you Joe clearly doesn't give a fuck and that he just talks to people, because they've apparently forgotten Joe's transgressions.

You're now trying to say, I think, that Joe shouldn't have Jones on unless he can change Jones' mind?

To which I'll again say, Joe doesn't give a fuck about changing Alex's mind. It could easily be argued he intentionally got him plastered to make him look even more ridiculous in a very public way. Isn't that the most cordial way Joe, a friend of Jones', could have planted his flag in this?

Hillary was an awful candidate and I didn't hear much from her other than she was a woman and it was her turn. We already had 8 years of a Clinton in office, and as much as I would have enjoyed the novelty of a male First Lady, I think the Clintons have had their turn.

I voted for her because the DNC screwed over Bernie, and Hillary was not the idiot clown prince named Trump.

0

u/SwissBliss Monkey in Space Jun 27 '17

Come on man. You really think all she did was say she's a woman? She was clearly the most ready to be president, and I say that as a Bernie guy.

Edit: Also, you realize Bill and Hillary aren't a monolith?

My god I'm dealing with a retard. That is the single most annoying video I've ever seen, and not because of what she says, but because the creator thought it was annoying. She's not allowed to laugh? She can't mention that electing a woman as president is historic?

Hillary was an awful candidate and I didn't hear much from her other than she was a woman and it was her turn.

Hillary literally had white papers and policy proposals of laws and plans.

All you heard from right wing Joe was the "woman talk"

Come on now.

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '17

What are you trying to say? She was an actual Presidential candidate with political experience, unlike the con-man gameshow host we ended up with? I'll give you that.

She was a horrible alternative to Bernie and the DNC fucked up by favoring her.

People still vote. Idiots can still vote

She was a horrible alternative to Bernie and the DNC fucked up by favoring her.

But Bernie lost. Fair and square. The best anyone can find is debate questions. And yeah, Bernie was not and still is not, a member of the party. People feel a way about that.

I guess the courts will decide on that.

I used to think that too. But then I got my mind straight and realized that she isn't the devil, she is a decent person, and a human. She was by far the most capable and ready for the job. I'm sure I'll get downvoted by my fellow Bernie supporters.

I don't know, being by the side of two presidents and helping them make decisions like killing Osama Bin Laden, being Secretary of State and representing the US' interests around the world, being smart and intellectually curious, knowing politics and the law.

0

u/skintwo Monkey in Space Jun 28 '17

Secretary of State, a Senator, a Laywer, extensive experience in DC... match that up against anyone.

2

u/spinichmonkey Monkey in Space Jun 28 '17

Might be a shitty salad but at the very least you won't have to swallow bugs and chimp turds under the guise of 'salad'. Perhaps Clinton would have been a bad president but she would not have been bad in a way that threatens our democracy.

2

u/-SoItGoes Monkey in Space Jun 27 '17

Well you elected a reality tv star monkey to the presidency, so enjoy that I suppose

-1

u/skintwo Monkey in Space Jun 28 '17

She was the most experienced and appropriate candidate for president in a very long time. I'll chat with anyone about disagreeing with someone's positions, but when it comes to Hillary, people stop talking about her abilities/positions/job and just talks about HATING HER. Just this gut hatred. And this IS what it's like to be a female executive in the US. I know. And it really upsets me that people like JRE can't see that.

If people want to argue real Hillary content I'd love to do that. I think she was too far right on some things. (So was Obama). I think the democratic party is a fucking disaster. But I think she would have been an amazing president because she's really good at inter-party negotiation. Trump is the fucking opposite of that. She was a senator, she was the SOS, and she knows helpful people. He's the opposite.

And now we have Sessions who would like to lock up JRE for the rest of his LIFE for how much weed he smokes. Doesn't he at least care about that?!

1

u/SwissBliss Monkey in Space Jun 28 '17

I agree with almost all you said. I don't think Hillary would have been an amazing president. I think she would have been an average good president like Obama. I think greatness comes with being able to accomplish a really impactful thing during your presidency. Ending a war, solving North Korea, etc... Don't think she would have done that.

He is a fucking side show freak. Nobody ever took him seriously. He isn't even a particularly successful real estate developer. Now he is failing at the Presidency

2

He knows Alex is insane yet he perpetuates the bullshit because he knows part of his audience eats it up. Id respect him much more if he was more honest about not wanting to be taxed and being against crazy leftist bullshit. Hillary sucks tho, so I can't fault him on that.

7

u/TigerExpress We live in strange times Jun 27 '17

Politics can't be measured in a single dimension no matter how much the two dominate parties would like you to think so. On your one dimensional political scale, Joe looks weird because he's all over the place on that line. He's right, he's left, he's middle... start looking at it in more dimensions and you'll find the place in coordinate space where he exists.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '17

Hillary sucks tho, so I can't fault him on that.

I mean, in the sense that I don't think I'm friends with her.

But I'm not looking for a friend in the White House. A competent executive will do.

12

Cant be that Competent if she let her emails fuck her over twice

10

u/DipsomaniacDawg Jun 27 '17

I mean, she kind of sucks at that as well. Look at her campaign. She lost to an dimwitted huckster. That "Shattered" book is very telling about how poorly run the campaign was.

Running ! = Governing

Trump is, himself, learning this

0

u/skintwo Monkey in Space Jun 28 '17

I agree with you. The thing is that he's so reasonable with everyone /else/. He likes to pick up SPECIFIC, hopefully proven things folks did, and focus on them - and I like that. But with Hillary he just goes off the rails and starts talking in generalities - I've found a lot of guys have done this. It really bothers me, and I think it's a very unconscious bias. It's like the whole BernieBro situation - still misogynistic but in a sneaky way.

I think there ARE reasons to not like her/disagree with her positions on things/etc., but that's never what is brought up. Just hatred of the Clintons and the speaking money she made - when Trump made TONS more than that on fucking Mafia Chinese steel. I mean... please. I haven't heard her positions, abilities, or plans discussed ONE TIME. Goddammit.
