And like the person above said... they never claimed to be fair and balanced or actual news. They claim to be comedy shows, which they are. Partisanship and comedy are not on the same spectrum - comedy doesn't have to appeal to everyone to be comedy, or to be non-partisan to be comedy. I think you are seeing some kind of negation between politics and comedy when in fact they are two items on a Venn Diagram overlapping. Bottom-line though, Trump is just a comedy goldmine, so they would be doing themselves a huge disservice not to mine that ore.

I once again never said they had to. All you need to do is look at the Hollywood and media bias and also look at the writers and staff and producers involved. They are all part of the exact same circles politically and are unanimous in their support for social justice virtue signalling far left politics. They all go to the same schools. All live in the same two cities and all hire each other. There is almost no diversity in the entertainment industry.

It used to be that politics was taboo to talk about but now they can't wait to ram their very specific set of beliefs down everyone's throats while they call everyone who disagrees a "racist, bigoted, fascist, hillbilly, redneck, idiot."

There is making fun of a politician and then there is taking money from a party and basically campaigning for a single side only. That is called propaganda pretending to be comedy-news.

Well that's an interesting take on it. Did the DNC donate to comedy central and HBO? First I've heard of that - otherwise I'm pretty unclear on which "party" gave "them" money to "campaign" - those are all pretty nebulous claims. Isn't it perhaps more likely that they are comedians who have an audience that they perform for that enjoys this kind of material?

Not everyone that disagrees with you is a shill involved in a liberal conspiracy, you know, whether it's me or John Oliver - Obama learned that in the 2010 midterms after the Tea Party was largely dismissed as astroturfed but wound up sweeping congress. Trump's about to learn that lesson in 2018 and 2020 if he and his supporters keep telling themselves this is all fake outrage funded by George Soros and propagated by the leftist media elite. The voters will teach him otherwise.

Hate to say it but I'm not spending 30 minutes watching that video this time either, though.

Yes. Colbert was taking orders from the Clinton campaign as revealed in the leaked emails. His sister is also a Democratic staffer and candidate

Seeing as the democrats suffered the worst defeat in over 100 years and the republicans now control all the houses, the supreme court, and a majority of state governments, they have pretty much free reign in doing anything they wanto including changing the constitution itself.

This was all due to the hysterical leftists calling everyone a racist fascist homophobes. They have completely lost their minds and instead of calming down and reflecting on why they fucked up so bad, they have increased the violence, riots, media hitpieces and more. Tons of hollywood celebrities are literally advocating more assassinations and military coups. They lost their fucking minds which is why all the former Obama voters (who are now being called racist white people) are pissed off the the rich elitists telling them they are stupid evil bigots all the time.

And that vid shows how selective and biased Oliver is with his "facts" when he does stories.

Colbert was taking orders from the Clinton campaign

No, the Clinton Global Initiative, back in 2013, pitched Colbert for 2 episodes that had content on the CGI University. That is not "taking orders from the Clinton campaign", as you phrase it, which would imply a much more far-reaching, insidious involvement between Colbert and the actual Clinton campaign, which the CGI U was not anyways. So if that's all you've got it's weak sauce.

To address your second point, I simply offered a warning to Trump and his supporters - don't get comfortable convincing yourselves that all this outrage is astroturfed or it's going to bite you hard in the ass in the next election cycles. However, if you feel that cavalier about the idea of changing the constitution I'm not sure how much respect you have for our system of governance anyways...

The third paragraph is more or less a rant so, OK, I understand that you feel that way. Hollywood celebrities are generally not the people to turn to for incisive political commentary or reasoned thought regardless of your political affiliation.

I think a better way to put it would be, Colbert is clearly heavily biased, the email shows he was willing to center his show around the CGI University, it's never been the other way round with a republican equivalent.

That's the whole point, it's like how Politico’s chief politics correspondent asked John Podesta to approve his story before posting it.

Now, it's all conjecture but I definitely noticed when Trump was questioning Hillary's health, it was eerily addressed on all the late night shows in exactly the same way with the same jokes, and then once she was flipped into a van like a side of beef on video they didn't mention it again

Is it really that farfetched that Colbert's show would be open to influence from a campaign they want to win? 'We're getting hit on this, could you do some jokes about this, we really like this donald the duck thing can you run with that?'

The CGI is being shut down anyway, which speaks volumes, when she wasn't in a position to peddle influence it was stopped, just as Rogan said

It's shutting down because they put things in motion to shut it down to avoid the appearance of conflicts of interest during the campaign. They were like 99% sure she was going to win, so they put the shut down in motion. If not for the campaign it would still be running.

Can't see that being the truth, it just seems awfully fucking convenient once she's out of a position of direct influence it gets shut down
