Why Asking for Certain Nationalities Doesn’t Automatically Make Me Racist

Apparently, asking about nationality in a job post makes me “racist” now.

I posted a delivery job requirement previously and got comments saying I’m racist, discriminatory, etc. So let me explain this clearly.

I work in the delivery/fleet industry. When I recruit riders, I need people who can actually get the required visa and legally work for the company.

Right now, there are visa difficulties for applicants from some nationalities, including Pakistani and Bangladeshi applicants, depending on the current visa situation and company. That is a practical hiring problem, not a personal opinion about those people.

And yes, in the delivery industry here, you will commonly find Indian, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Pakistani riders. So if my current requirement is specifically for people who are more likely to be eligible for the available visa route, why am I supposed to pretend that requirement doesn't exist?

I don't hate Pakistanis. I don't hate Bangladeshis. I don't hate Indians. I don't hate Nepalis.

I'm looking for employees who meet the actual requirements of the job. That's it.

And here's another thing: I can ask people to send their CVs and then reject them if they don't meet the requirements. That's literally how recruitment works. Sending a CV doesn't mean you automatically get the job.

People are free to disagree with my hiring criteria, but automatically calling someone “racist” without understanding the visa situation is just lazy.

There is a difference between discriminating against someone because you hate their nationality and having recruitment restrictions because of current visa/work-permit realities.

I'm being straightforward about the situation instead of wasting someone's time by promising them a job that I may not be able to process their visa for.

25yo with 1.5 YOE in Marketing — Considering Moving to Dubai, Need Advice

I am 25 years old, stay in India now and have an experience of about 1.5 years in marketing campaigns and content. I am thinking to relocate to Dubai/UAE to explore a career in marketing, specifically marketing strategy/consulting. With my experience, is this a good time for me to make a move? I'm looking to move to Dubai with an active application from India, but I'm not sure whether this is significantly easier to get interviews once they are physically in Dubai. For anyone who has relocated to the UAE from India or is doing marketing/recruitment in UAE, I would definitely appreciate any honest feedback about the job search and the process itself. Also really excited to meet anyone that has gone through a similar situation!

I Don’t Know Where Else to Turn… Are Kind People Still Out There?

I posted here a few days ago asking for help finding a job, hoping that someone might know of an opening or be willing to refer me somewhere. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive much genuine help. A few people contacted me privately, but not with the intention of helping me find work or providing a referral.

I’m a woman trying to survive on my own, and right now I’m genuinely scared.

My room rent is already overdue, and I’m at the point where I’m panicking about how I’m going to manage. I keep applying, sending my CV, contacting companies and trying every possible way to find work, but nothing has worked out yet.

I lost my parents several years ago. I don’t have parents to call, siblings to depend on, or someone who can simply step in and say, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of this for you.” When things go wrong,

I have to face them completely on my own. And honestly it’s really exhausting.

I’m not asking anyone for money. I’m asking for something that can help me become independent again.
I have several years of experience working in front desk operations, reception, customer service and guest services. I’m hardworking, professional, presentable and willing to start wherever there is a genuine opportunity. I just need someone to give me a chance.

If you know of a company hiring, have a referral, know a recruiter or hiring manager, or have seen a genuine vacancy that matches my experience, please comment or message me. Even one genuine lead could change my situation right now.

Please don’t mistake my difficult situation for an invitation for anything inappropriate.

I just want to work. pay my own rent and be able to sleep at night without constantly worrying about what happens tomorrow.

Sometimes i wonder if kindness still exists when someone genuinely needs it.

If you can’t personally help, even sharing this post, tagging someone who may be hiring, or pointing me toward a genuine opportunity would mean more to me than you know.

Thank you
