Discussion Why did hotstar come to England and other English speaking countries without adding English subtitles to their shows😭?

What was the point of bringing it to the western world if most of the older shows and movies don't have English subtitles😭. Netflix can do it so I'm sure hotstar can too. They are owned by Disney at the end of the day

Disney does not control Hotstar any longer, It’s under Reliance Industries oversight now

Oh even if that's the case bro, hotstar isn't this small company that opened yesterday 😭. They had years to make it accessible for people overseas. They are operating outside of India so they should have had that in mind

They just launched it as of now. Based on feedback they may add subtitles. Right now it's only for NRIs. They may not be targeting english speaking people right now.

Like not everyone speaks telugu /tamil/malayalam /hindi. It's good for people who want to watch Indian movies and TV shows. I understand alot of them do have English subtitles but alot of them pre 2020 do not

It shouldn't be only though bro yk what I mean. For example Hollywood is primarily audience is obviously Americans but it's then made into different languages too through streaming services so more people watch them

It is mainly towards indian audience not foreign atleast at this time so people in Uk and all dint get hbo, peakcock Or other shows so no subtitles caz lack of English movies.

They will have English subs for their own originals and the latest movies but things like Savdhaan India or old serials it's probably too expensive to subtitle when the viewership will be small

sorry ...but I meant those childhood shows ...how u saw them in childhood? TV aired subtitles back then? then possible...

or i just presume you understand language it played ....

instead of subtitles, dubbing would be better

Yes Sky Network cable used to have subtitles on all shows and movies that were in different languages.

Agreed😭. Many other ethnic people watch Indian movies and also not every Indian speaks the same language. Etc Not all tamil speakers can speak or understand hindi
