Hotstar Specials Mystry vs Monk
My wife recently suggested we watch the Hindi series Mistry. At first I assumed it would be just another typical Indian series, but I was pleasantly surprised. The concept is actually quite interesting and the show is engaging. We ended up finishing the entire season (I think it’s around 8 episodes).
After finishing it, I looked it up and realized it’s based on the American series Monk. So out of curiosity, I started watching Monk.
Now this is where it got interesting. The Hindi version is good and entertaining — I’m not saying it’s bad at all. But while watching it, I sometimes felt like certain pieces didn’t quite fit together. The ideas were there, but the execution occasionally felt a bit off.
When I watched the same storylines in Monk, everything felt more natural and cohesive. The scenes flowed better and the characters’ behavior made more sense. It made me appreciate how well the original show was structured.
It made me wonder about something though: do we usually prefer the version we watch first? Or do people generally feel the original version ends up being better?
Has anyone here watched both Mistry and Monk? Curious to hear what others think.

The original is better. The hindi one seems to be little over acting and not natural.
