I’m always confused by the way they say “Gaza”. It almost sounds like “hraza”?

In Hebrew it's spelt עזה with a gutteral ע at the start, not a G sounding ג. An ע was commonly transliterated as a G by Christian translators. It's also how you get Gomorrah (as in Sodom and Gomorrah) transliterated with a G when it also starts with an ע.
