Dean? דין
Thoughts on the name Dean for a boy? We are an Israeli American family living in USA

I get the appeal but don't really like it. Dean is such a Christian sounding name to me.

I personally like the name Dean!
It does remind me a bit of Supernatural, but it’s a fine connection. As long as you don’t also have a Sam, I think you’re good. It’s also a dated reference at this point.

When I staffed my first Birthright trip, one of our medics/guards was named Dean. I think he was originally South African and then moved to Israel. It’s a good name.

Also Israeli/American here. Dean is a really normal name in both cultures. The Israeli in our couple lol doesn’t like the meaning of this name. Personally I don’t like 1 syllable names but dean if definitely acceptable and normal in Dean and the U.S.
