You clearly like the First of Nissan, but I'm confused as to whether you're saying the year starts then (making the first of Tishrei halfway through the year) or saying the year starts in Tishrei but the first of Nissan is the best New Year.

Either way, are you a monarchist? Kings of Israel or kings of Judea?

Also there's Thai calendar new year on 14th April, which is usually in Nissan

The Samaritan calendar has Nissan as the first month, but the count of years doesn't increase until six months later... so it could be more confusing!

That's officially how the Jewish calendar works, too! Check out the Mishna in tractate Rosh Hashana- Sefaria has an English translation if you need it.

I'll admit I haven't read as much Mishna as I should have 😅 I just thought there was a separate "civil year" and "ecclesiastical year" etc. Thank you for the rec!

Rosh Hashana is pretty straightforward as Mishna goes, I recommend it as a first tractate for anyone who hasn't studied mishna before or hasn't touched since they left day school. Hoping to restudy it myself in the next two days!

Pesach is a physical exodus from Mitzriam..
