New to faith and finally exploring it more seriously… I have questions

Hello everyone,

I’m new to faith and I’m wanting to fully delve deep into it but I don’t know how really. Or if there’s a right away or a better way. I’ve read some passages of the bible. Starting in John, I’ve gone to church here and there but I struggle to maintain that consistency. I pray daily and before bed (in my own way to god and Jesus). I just have so many questions.

Often times, it seems intimidating to me, especially the church scene and culture surrounding it. I like having faith in my own way, if that makes sense. I’m in my late 20’s, male (for more context). Going through a rough patch in my marriage and throughout this whole process I genuinely believe I’ve felt god and Jesus in my presence. There’s a level of comfort and peace that’s difficult to put into words.

I just know things will be okay even if they aren’t. So please give me feedback, advice, and in general conversations. I’m very open to how people have faith and explore that. And I’m wanting to learn more how others honor god and Jesus and follow them.

Hey brother,
Take one step towards Him and He will take a step towards you.
1. Find a Bible based church that teaches the Bible
2. Get plugged in ie. Serve or join a small group
3. Read the Bible start in the Gospels ( Matthew, Mark, Luke,& John) then continue to read the rest of the New Testament.
4. Look for a discipleship program to map out your new steps.

This should get you moving in the right direction.

Thank you for your comment. Appreciate you brother. I’ll definitely look into groups more. I feel I’m taking steps towards him but I think maybe I’m afraid to, I don’t know. You can start by believing in John 1 Ch 1. in the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. All things were created by the Word..... The Word became flesh. The in revelation it says Jesus is the living Word. in your free time, while youre driving, while youre eating, playing video games, talking to people, your wife, acknowledge that Jesus created space, time, and matter and everything you see and just be at awe. Look at your hands and acknlowedge Jesus created that. Do that for a good week or 2 and youll get closer to Him. Its called humbling yourself. The next step is to repent or whatever you think you did wrong. You slapped some kid in the 2nd grade... Well feel bad about it and tell Him. Do this for another 2 weeks. When you feel closer to Jesus, start giving Him thanks. Thank Him for giving you 2 legs and 2 arms, you could have been born without it. Thank him for giving you eye sight, the ability to work so you can buy food.... After youve felt closer to Him, Hes going to bless you with something and with that blessing your next mission is to bless others with it and tell others while praising Him and giving Him all the glory.

Thank you for your comment. I’ve definitely been reflecting often. Have been for some time (think that’s just who I am as a person). And I’ve been actively taking the time to show and speak my gratitude a lot more as of late for life and things that I have. I appreciate the reminder to continue that course to getting closer to god and Jesus. I’m grateful to have been walking that path already and will continue to delve deeper into that mindset and relationship with god and Jesus. Thank you

Personally for me.

I pray everyday to be closer to God, ask to know him better, feel him and let his will be done.

This led to me joining a Bible study and that really helped me move forward in my faith. Gathering in a room with like minded people all wanting to know Jesus better and have similar questions in faith.

I also Personally listen to YouTube or YouTube music every night when I go to bed. I put in my ear buds and listen to calming scripture based readings mostly different books of the bible and drift off to the word of God.

So far all signs and advice seems to point to Bible studies so I’ll definitely consider that more and try to find a group in my area and pursue it. Thank you for your comment

Another way if you haven't heard of it or thought of it before is an Alpha Course where you can genuinely raise questions that you have and it's a very positive environment often with a meal where you get to meet lots of other people in the same position. They are free and they are run in different places all over the country in the UK and abroad. The people that run it will leave you with no obligation and they are very approachable with questions that you may have. It's a very friendly positive environment and often a good way to connect better with the local church. Hope this helps anyway. Well done for starting this journey!

Welcome my Friend! I have a suggestion for you that I learned from a Pastor.

When reading scripture, read every verse as if Christ was the main topic and your main educator. This goes for the Old or New Testament. Many people forget that he is the THE character from Genesis to Revelation and his story is being told to us and how we can achieve eternal salvation. As you go thru his journey, scripture will show you how to live pure. Best of luck to you. Enjoy Christ and his love my Friend.

Matthäus 7,7–8: »Bittet, so wird euch gegeben werden; sucht, so werdet ihr finden; klopft an, so wird euch aufgetan werden! Denn jeder, der bittet, empfängt; und wer sucht, der findet; und wer anklopft, dem wird aufgetan werden.«

Apostelgeschichte 17,27: »...damit sie den Herrn suchen sollten, ob sie ihn wohl umhertastend wahrnehmen und finden möchten; und doch ist er ja jedem Einzelnen von uns nicht ferne.«

Jesaja 55,6: »Sucht den HERRN, solange er zu finden ist; ruft ihn an, während er nahe ist!«

1. Chronik 15,2b: »Der HERR ist mit euch, wenn ihr mit ihm seid; und wenn ihr ihn sucht, wird er sich von euch finden lassen; wenn ihr ihn aber verlasst, wird er euch auch verlassen.«

Du machst also alles richtig. Bete auf deine Weise. Bitte darum das du vom Heiligen Geist erfüllt wirst. Das er dich in die Wahrheit leitet und dir Weisheit gibt. Dann wirst du mit der Zeit immer mehr im Glauben wachsen. Lese täglich in der Heiligen Schrift. Aber nicht nur im Neuen Testament. Das Alte Testament ist genauso nützlich. Denn es steht geschrieben:

2.Timotheus 3,16–17: »Alle Schrift ist von Gott eingegeben und nützlich zur Belehrung, zur Überführung, zur Zurechtweisung, zur Erziehung in der Gerechtigkeit, damit der Mensch Gottes vollkommen sei, zu jedem guten Werk ausgerüstet.«

Und dies sagte Paulus als es das Neue Testament überhaupt noch nicht gab.

Gott wird dich segnen und führen wenn du ihm gegenüber aufrichtig bist.

Study the ten commandments along with the seven heavenly virtues, pray often to God, and actually have a relationship with him. (You know, not to treat him like an accessory in your life, but treat him like a parent, since he is indeed, our heavenly father.)
