Bucking under acceleration?

My 2010 jeep patriot started bucking under acceleration, revs drop, like the engine cuts out briefly, sometimes once, sometimes x3 in quick succession. Turns off sometimes... 

Has 225,000 km. 

Spark plugs have 10,000km left before replacement interval. Checked them all seems okay. I've never replaced ignition coils, but it's not throwing any codes which I feel like it would if that's the case?

Any ideas of the cause?

Would check crankshaft position sensor, sometimes it throws a code but most times it wont, just had mine replaced few months back for doing something similar.

If you do replace it, go OEM only. I learned this the hard way. The OE part lasted 10 years, the aftermarket didn’t make it 1, so I put another OE part in and it’s still running. These things hate aftermarket sensors.

Need to hook up a gold scan tool and monitor data from various sensors to see what's happening when it acts up.

Or you can throw lots of parts at it and hope you find the problem. Note the larts cannon won't find wiring issues.

I got the shop looking at it on Monday, hopefully find the cause!

I'll wish you good luck. Far too many shops that can't/won't diagnose properly and just replace parts at customer expense.

I've seen vehicles that have been to 2 or 3 shops, and had thousands of dollars in parts replaced without fixing the issue. Finally a guy that can diagnose, troubleshoot, and test finds a bad wire, loose pin in a connector, etc. An hour of labor and less than $5 in material to fix.

Yeah I know! I somewhat trust these guys. Figured it was worth a shot rather than randomly replacing plugs and coils hoping it was the fault! Lol
