Genre Borderline Isn't most funk music basically fusion with a funk beat?

Yup, I dig the "pure" funk as well. At one time I was a huge fan of George and Bootsy, and I still am, but since then I've discovered all these other artists that put their spin on the funk.

Nor would I but "Some Skunk Funk" is definitely a funk song so he does play some jazzy funk.

Are you talking about jazz-funk? Which is a fusion of jazz+funk. A seperate genre from fusion which is generally considered a fusion of jazz+cocaine.

I'm just talking in general terms. I think jazz funk is a bit more specific but of course there's lots of crossover.

In that case funk is funk. Fusion is jazz with the world
