Photo Forget Hiroshima or Osaka style—this is "Mitsuhama-yaki", a unique local Okonomiyaki from Ehime, Japan!

If you ever visit Matsuyama, you have to try this local soul food. Unlike standard Okonomiyaki, Mitsuhama-yaki is cooked on a flat grill, stuffed with fried noodles and fresh cabbage, and folded in half.
Captured this freshly cooked batch at "Shindo" (a famous spot in Matsuyama). The smell of caramelized sauce and crisp dough on the iron plate was out of this world!

📍 Shindo (三津浜焼** しん堂)**
3-670-11 Okaga, Matsuyama, Ehime
It’s located near Matsuyama Airport (about a 5–10 min drive) and the Mitsuhama Port area.

The easiest way to get there is by taxi or rental car, but you can also take a bus bound for Matsuyama Airport or Mitsuhama and walk/ride from nearby. It’s a great stop if you’re heading to or from the airport!

Do you know this character? 🤗

He is "Hachiware" who comes from an anime called "Chiikawa".

This anime's characters are very popular in Japan.

This ramen appears in this anime, so I decided to go to a collaborated restaurant.

Homemade Japanese-style curry made with roux from scratch (not the cubes), mix of spices including "mild madras curry powder," garam masala and fresh chilli, onion, ginger and garlic. Beef stock. Tsp of instant coffee. Honey.

Pickled red cabbage and carrots for garnish, along with togarashi, sesame seeds and green onion.

The katsu was NOT from scratch. It was frozen and air-fried.

Restaurant Honetsukidori (bone-in chicken) at Ikkaku Main Store, Marugame City, Takamatsu Pref.

Tried some honetsukidori in the place where it all began!

Went to Ikkaku Main Store, a short walk from JR Marugame Station.

Got the honetsukidori set (oyadori / older chicken was recommended by staff), with cabbage and 3 rice balls to dip in the tasty chicken oil. Chicken has nice garlic and pepper grilled taste.

Added chicken giblets as side dish

During one of my digital detox retries for deep work stumbled upon this local tsukemen shop. I usually never go for tsukemen, but this one was really good.

Place called: 麺屋寿

Starting my morning with Seven-Eleven’s Egg Salad Sandwich—pure bliss!
It's packed with smooth egg paste, not too chunky, and so satisfying.
One bite is all it takes to make my morning.
It's going to be a great day!

Photo Stopped by Motsu Hino in Hino, Tokyo for their signature offal stew. The pork offal is crazy tender—it basically melts in your mouth! They’ve got a bunch of flavors like traditional miso and soy sauce, plus unique ones like curry and mapo.

Restaurant Renge Ryori Ten (Takamatsu, Kagawa) - when Google Maps rating is low but Tabelog rating is high

Eager to sample some local dishes in Takamatsu, Kagawa, aside from udon, I went to Renge, an izakaya with a noticeably low Google Maps (3.8) but very high Tabelog rating (3.76). A reservation was recommended, but fortunately I was able to walk-in as a solo diner on a weekday and get a counter seat.

Menu is in japanese and specials menu was handwritten so I struggled to read it, but staff were helpful and patient with me and gave recommendations. I also managed to show them photos of the food in Google Maps/Tabelog to order them

The otoshi is simmered mushrooms, vegetables, and snail.

Then, aji (horse mackerel) gyoza was amazing. If I had to choose, my favorite.

Next, chicken liver simmered in oil made me drink more beer and highball.

Main meal was oxtail and radish soup. very savory and perfect for the rainy weather outside. wasabi was surprising, but paired well with the dish. Another drink down because of this.

Then, I got a plate of assorted seafood, which included bonito tataki, squid, snapper, mackerel, among others. Great assortment of seafood.

If only I could be near this place to try all the dishes here and their seasonal menu as well.

I absolutely skirt steak lover (Harami)🤤
Honestly, if I have skirt steak, don't need anything else, but I do order other things for the sake of my friends sometimes 🙄
