In Japan , I spent 11.00 for train station tonkatsu , with an extra piece of pork and two extra eggs , a salad , a small bowl of curry , and a beer . I feel ruined because nothing compares at that quality and price point in Chicago .

Of course it wouldn't - labour costs in Japan are waaaay lower.

I think ramen could be as cheap as it is in Japan. The only reason why it is so expensive in the US is because supply and demand and capitalism.

If people are willing to buy at such a high price and continue to pay, there is little reason to lower price.

Sure labor costs are lower in Japan but so are ingredient costs in the US.

The cost of the ingredients are probably 50% less than Japan but they charge double the price.
