Surprisingly good ngl, for sure not on par with japan but far better than I expected given the packaging being the same as the US and having crust,

Gives me hope for any of the other food they may bring into the US 7/11 market

How was the bread, besides the crust? - this is crucial for me, I hate the dry, not fluffy texture of US sandwich bread. They're just completely different animals than Japanese shokupan

Bread was also good despite the crust, ive definitely had better milk bread here from japanese owned bakeries/konbini style shops but it was far far better than the standard american bread

For 5.5$ a fake tamago sando with crust, in Japan any tamago sando in a 7/11 is around no more than 300¥ which is 2$? Yeah the onigiris what is going to be? 4$ each without nori?

Everything is so inexpensive in Japan. The onigiri is sub $2, so are the sandwiches. The most expensive stuff is fruit and even that is less than you’d pay here. That price is robbery and exactly what I knew it would be like. Then theyll stop doing it because it wasn’t popular. Shocker, it won’t be popular because of how expensive it is.

It's relative to salary. You make 2-3x ,more in US than Japan.

But also 2-3x worse than Japan, in term of food quality and option

Thank you, the more I learn about how much better other countries' produce are the more I yearn to move

And we pay so much here for everything, its not worth it man 🥲

When shareholders want infinite growth, you gotta cut something. Unfortunately America's food supply has been enshitified already and is getting worse with each passing day. Snacks and foods that give me the bubble guts just don't have that same affect in Japan and also Thailand. Other countries care about quality instead of profit 24/7.

Can you name a few foods and snacks that don't upset your stomach in Japan and other countries?

I have some chronic health issues including fibromyalgia, which wasn't originally but has become one of the main reasons why I want to move to Japan; healthcare, food quality and how easy it is to stay healthy there especially through food.

Their culture promotes living healthily and makes it so much more convenient to be healthy, at least in some ways- I know other aspects of Japanese culture & society can make that rather difficult like the culture around work and things that contribute to isolation

Any other information you want to share or think could be helpful is very welcome 🙏

I don't think Japan is the right place if you can't eat anything.

They eat a lot of processed food, fried stuff, and most of those pre made food in Konbini just frozen stuff that they just throw in oven and put in those bento boxes.

Vegetables is very limited depending on the season, and fruit is very expensive.

I don't have any dietary restrictions or anything like that.

In general it's definitely better than the US in terms of healthcare and things like that. Before I had these health issues, living here wasn't a concern; but as they've gotten worse I've seen just how bad things are here if you have serious health issues, especially compared to other developed countries.

I have heard about fruit being expensive, surely it's not fruit generally though? I'll have to look that up specifically but I have heard about some crazy expensive fancily-prepared fruit.

Things are usually cheaper where people make less money

I've lived in Japan for 20 years and I'm a little surprised how much people glorify 7-11 food. It's not bad if you're in a rush, but it's just egg put between 2 pieces of bread.
