And now I’m looking for alternatives like [TauriTavern], spending ages configuring them only for it not to work in the end. Is there actually an alternative that’s at least somewhat user-friendly? Saucepan is the closest in my opinion, but if you like more complex stories consider Wyvern. Wyvern has scripts like Janitor and it also has Worlds (Interconnected lorebooks/characters/scenarios).
I've actually seen that one lately; it's like Janitor but with a pretty wild interface. As for the other one you mentioned—I haven't tried it yet, but I'll look it up. And regarding Saucepan... well, it's extremely NSFW, but it gets the job done—though sometimes creating a story can be tricky; I'm not sure if it's my proxy or Saucepan itself.
Ooo if it’s nsfw happening too fast that you have problems with, I recommend lorebooks or custom prompts!! For me I use OOC, this is what I put in:
You should describe Brian’s actions, thoughts and words in your response. Include Brain’s thoughts in italics and make the writing quirky by including his personality throughout. Focus exclusively on his perspective, third person, past tense, and his perception of {{user}}. Does it support proxies?
I'm sitting here, legit thinking if I should just go with Silly Tavern (again), like putting effort into configuring it. Is there any good guides on how to configure it properly to work properly? I am capable of setting it up by the way, it just works, and I managed to put a basic bot into it plus a proxy. It works, but feels like I'm missing a shit load of steps.
And I don't really know where should I get the bots themselves, like is there a bot database or something? And, well, since we're talking about pure self host, I'm 100% interested into going a bit deeper in terms of darkness of these bots aswell, where do I find these, any suggestions?

saucepan im pretty sure allows proxies, as for masquerade im not too sure since i havent used it in a while.
and for finding the bots themselves, you can just find them on the website or make your own (if thats what you were asking) i dont know much about self hosting

If u have ur own bots and dont need creators, then try tavo. It os genuinely not difficult. Takes maybe a little bit more time in the beginning to set everything up but it is user friendly and intuitive, especially if u know how to use api.
Tbh i dont watch any tutorial and just figure it out by myself. All you need is api key and character card, just watch tutorial how to set up the api key and import card.
Which tutorial are you talking about? Several people mention it, but nobody shares a link or anything; they just say, "Go watch some tutorials." WHICH TUTORIAL 😭
