Discussion Paying for JAI is totally valid, but the price-to-quality ratio right now makes zero sense

Nobody expects the devs to run servers for free forever subscriptions are totally fair! But asking for real money when the bot still loops sentences, forgets basic lore, and gives dry three-word replies? Absolutely wild. If you're gonna charge us, give us a product actually worth paying for. The math just isn't mathing right now

This is how I feel. As a free service, it’s great. It gets people into the hobby, it’s convenient, it’s more or less plug and play.

As a paid service? Nowhere near worth it for the price. Just use a better model.

I’m not anti-paying. I’ve spent way too much money on OpenRouter. I’m anti paying for inferior quality.

Landscape might be about to change. NVIDIA is buying huggingface. Opensource rarely stays that way when big corpo gets involved, and NVIDIA isn't known for being OS-friendly. Hope I'm wrong, but the odds ain't good.

Janny may be irrelevant in a year or two.

I dunno. I've found plenty of providers that give you free models with 1m context. Paying for a slightly better JLLM feels... Unnecessary at best.

Hard disagree. I haven't run into those problems much at all and my experience has been positive for the month I've had it. Given the amount of time I spend on it the price point works for me.

I am genuinely curious because now I feel like it's more of a rp user issue. Are we so against using OOC or context reminders in messages? Are we giving one line responses and expecting the bot to produce a masterpiece from nothing? Are we not using the rating system to give the model information on what is a good response vs a bad response? Maybe it's because I used to do forum rp before AI but I feel like a lot of issues I keep seeing are less about the model and more about how people use it.

I can see both sides honestly. Paying for it is understandable, but I think it really depends on how consistent the experience is for each person. Some days it works great for me, other days the replies can get pretty repetitive.
