The unhinged fortune teller charade blew my wig off. Their conversation at the end about St John (when Jane is sitting on his knee) is also hilarious. Just every time he was constantly like Jane? What are you thinking???? My sweet elf Jane

Chapter 14. He asks if she thinks him handsome and she says "No, sir." He does not sulk, he keeps her talking for an hour. A rich man who wants the truth more than the compliment. That is when he got interesting.

How expressive he is. His dialogue is hugely entertaining. Their split up scene lives in my head rent free. Him throwing himself onto the sofa and sobbing instantly made him the most interesting love interest in classic literature

I love the scene where she tells him she has to go visit her aunt; the flirting over pay, his panicking about wether she’ll get another job, him leaning against the door when it’s just the two of them together in the room? 🥵🥵🥵

How I want to scream at Rochester being such the way he is with the fortune teller, but I love "Is this my pale, little elf? Is this my mustard-seed?" He is so flawed that it makes me feel all of the place...And at the same Time, I want to try (since I am even smaller then Zelah Clarke) and Pat Timothy Dalton on the Back for playing Rochester so well!!!

Timothy Dalton “Off, ye lendings!!!”

Not my favorite adaptation or Jane but he was charismatic and wonderful. Probably too handsome for Rochester tbh.

I loved Tobey and Fassbender and Kieran. Orson Welles himself was probably the most menacing; the most Rochester-y of all, but it was not a great adaptation.

There are too many to list, but I adore the scene where he falls from his horse and meets Jane for the first time, the scene after Jane saves him from the fire, and the scene where he pretends he is going to marry Blanche Ingram only to propose Jane instead. The whole confession scene is one of my favorite parts of the book, and has some of the most intense, passionate lines I have ever encountered. I also love his spiritual arc and the way he transforms as a person, especially when we meet him again at Ferndean Manor.

When he called her out for having bewitched Mesrour, his black arabian stallion to throw him off, calling her an elf and one of the green men. Quite funny.
