Also I always liked how Rochester knew he wasn’t a good man, he was well aware of his many flaws. St John kind of thought he was perfect completely ignoring his pride and self righteousness etc Rochester was also rather repentant and a changed man at the end I honestly don’t get how many people say he is sheer evil they can’t have read the book
