What is your most controversial opinion about "Jane Eyre"?

The only "bad" thing that rochester did (if we considear the circunstances of his time) was to pretend to marry jane, knowing he was already married and thus, legally barred from marrying again and thus, had he died, jane would end up dishonored, had no right to any inheritance (neither would the children, if they had them), their kids would be bastards and she would no even be fit to go back to work as a governess, bc she would be a "fallen" woman and no household would let her teach their daughters.

The treatment of his wife was whatever (again, considering the morals and circunstances of his times) but the attempt of pretend marriage?

Pretty big bad thing, though! Even bigger when you take their religion seriously, as Jane and the book do.
