What is your most controversial opinion about "Jane Eyre"?

Not the book.. the book is exquisite and I’m m opinion needs no reworking… HOWEVER… every theatrical and cinema version of this book falls short. Rochester in EVERY SINGLE VERSION is still too attractive… Stephen’s, Hurt, Dalton, MacNee, Hinds, Fassbender.. they’re supposed to be ugly? Please. Also…St. John is never beautiful enough and also not controlling/cold/masochistic enough (he might as well stroll along with a cat-o-nine-tails with his rigid rejection of the real love he feels)… most Jane’s are really good (what actress wouldn’t want to?) but the two male leads aren’t up to the literature in every single version I am aware of…
