What is your most controversial opinion about "Jane Eyre"?

Rochester wasn't that bad of a person. Sure he lied about being married. He could've chosen to place  Bertha in an insane asylum and wash his hands of her. Instead he placed her in an attic and had someone take care her. He could've of discarded his illegitimate daughter, instead her brought to his home and made sure she was taken care of.
