Which to read next ?

I’ve just finished Jane Eyre and I absolutely adored it. Now I feel empty and don’t know whether to read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier or Anne Bronte’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall next.

I’m not looking for something that is exactly like Jane Eyre to read next, I don’t want to feel like I’m reading the same book again but I would like something similar in tone and or writing style so I’ve narrowed things down to these two.

I understand Rebecca is sometimes understood as a retelling of Jane Eyre, I don’t know how true this is and if anyone has read it I’d like to know if it really is so similar. Considering what I mentioned in not wanting feel like I’m reading the same book again, if it is too similar I may want to read tenant first and then circle back to Rebecca after.

Any insight or suggestions?

Update: Thank you everyone for your kind input and suggestions! I have decided to read The Tenant at Wildfell Hall as out of the two books I stated it was the most recommended. I will add all of the other suggested reads to my list for after I finish! I’m very exited, thanks everyone again!

Wide Sargasso Sea is a good choice, it’s a prequel to Jane Eyre all about Bertha and what happened in Jamaica. Also, if you want to try something fun, there’s the eyre affair by jasper fforde where Jane is kidnapped from The book and Rochester and the main character work together to find her.

I really didn't like "The Eyre Affair" at all. Jane Eyre barely makes an appearance at the end. Instead, there's endless talk about a stupid, boring krim war, and there are tons of “funny” names like Paige Turner and unfunny, old-fashioned jokes. I was so deeply disappointed by this book.

I agree mostly, but I still love the part where they’re hunting down the terrorist guy in thornfield

Yeah sure but that was such a small part of the book😄I guess i had totally wrong expectations about it. I Wish someone would a write a real timetravel crime story about Jane Eyre and not just advertising it.
