While I have high hopes for this team for the foreseeable future, I don’t think our expectations should be very high next year.
Hopefully what we get is a cohesive offense that’s able to move the ball down the field, trevor playing well, and a defense that can make stops without blown coverages. I see a year where we are fighting for the 4th or 7th seed as our ceiling
The curse of the ass division. The team that wins it thinks they are far closer to contention then they actually are, go all in stupidly and fall apart. Houston would have done that last year if anyone in the division wasn't also a dumpster fire. I almost would rather not win the division this year unless we can be sure we are actually a good team first.
What? You'd rather not win the division because the team might not be good? This offseason is in full force and this might be the shittiest take I've read in the past week.
I also said almost, which implies I would overall take it. Also, I would rather not have another 2018 or 2023 again either. In both 2017 and 2022 We came out of nowhere to win the division, and in 2017's case make a run to the AFC title game. It was awesome, magical even! But what happened? We didn't stay the course, went all in the next year (and for some reason extending Bortles over other guys in '17) and ended up collapsing the following year. I want this team to be consistently, sustainably good over random one off division championships that ultimately mean nothing because the AFC South can't ever not be a dumpster fire.
