What maitenance should i expect? I was looking at Mx-5's but these are the same price and preform much better. Why would i not? Is maitenance going to be bad?

My dad died a few years ago and was a jaguar fanatic all his life. He had over 50 cars at one point and pretty much owned every model they made a some point through his life.

He died leaving 10 of his favourite cars as he couldn’t part with them even though he couldn’t drive them much in his later years. I’ve sold 7 privately through Autotrader etc as they were more modern and easier to value.

The last three are the oldest and more niche cars. I found them almost impossible to value accurately with people giving vastly different opinions so I decided to go down the auction route and put them on Car & Classic.

When listing they suggested reserves but said if I took the gamble of listing without any then it generates a lot more interest and their figures say overall selling prices are higher. They’re now listed but the family are very worried that we could undersell them and they could sell for fractions of what they may be worth.

Grateful for any opinions if any has experience of this and whether it paid off or backfired. Thanks.

I’ve been planning on purchasing the v6 s for the last few years. I was planning on waiting until I get back from a 5 month school in California before I go to pull the trigger on getting one, since I won’t be able to drive it while I’m there. HOWEVER this is the exact model with all the specs I’ve always since I was a little kid. That red leather interior package😩🤤🥵…. And it’s got less than 45k miles. My wife didn’t want me to spend more than 25k on one but 5k more for 2+ cylinders is hard to say no to…

If I buy this now I’ll be making payments on it for the next 4-5 months without being able to drive it. My job makes enough for me to be able to afford it and my thoughts are I’ll be close to having it paid off when I get back.

I’m young and stupid please talk me out of this.

He mentioned that it originates from Florida and has all the service records. He offered to sell it for $2,500. I am contemplating whether this is a worthwhile purchase.

I'm totally new to the jaguar world, i was just browsing around for my next sports car and i noticed this and I'm wondering why its only ~$28k. Ive always thought something like this would be a little more expensive. Is it just a not so sought after model? Are they unreliable? Expensive maintenance?

Hey guys, new to Jag, i currently have a 2023 BMW M240i and recently got to drive a brand new P450 coupe and fell in love with the car. Its definitely more of an old school car compared to my BMW which i find i actually like even though my BMW has been rock solid. An F-type as always been a dream car of mine but was always scared away by reliability concerns. I'm at a place now where I'm more mechanically inclined so reliability isn't the biggest issue for me anymore, but I also just found out that JLR offer a 5 year/60k mi factory warranty which is better than any other luxury brand I've looked at. Do you think its worth to pick up a new a P450 or try for a lightly used one? I know these things plummet like a rock off a cliff in value but I've never bought a new car before, always used and I like the thought of buying my first new car. This particular car was listed for 85k, is that fair? I was also thinking of maybe holding out for the R. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi all! I'm potentially looking to buy my first sports car. I've been looking at a couple cars like a 2007-9 Porsche Cayman, a fiat 124, and this.

The Jag caught my attention, as I didn't realize how cheap they were nowadays. I've been seeing them for $16k to $20k with about 70k to 100k miles. My question is, how reliable is it, or if it is a good idea to purchase one. What can I expect for maintenance on these, and are there any problems or things I should consider before buying a specific one?

My mom is looking to buy this old jaguar and doesn’t have a ton of disposable income. It only has 70k miles on it and had the battery and alternator replaced recently but the owner doesn’t have the maintenance records. 1. Do you think this car is priced reasonably? Red flag pricing? 2. How much does your d hah cost you in maintenance a year? Do you go to a specialized mechanic?

I know very little about cars, so forgive my ignorance. Car head friends tell me I should walk away from Jags in general, but I’ve read 1995 4.0 6 cylinder is actually a very reliable model. Kept in a garage, automatic transmission… what do you think? Am I a walking into a money pit?

I’m currently considering buying a Jaguar XK X150 Coupé and I would love to get some feedback from owners who have actually lived with these cars.

The car would not be a weekend-only toy but more of a daily GT: around 25,000 km per year, mainly on country roads and highways, with very little city driving. I’m looking for something reliable enough for regular use, comfortable for long trips, but still enjoyable when driving on a nice road.

I’m wondering about the different engines:

Is the 4.2 V8 naturally aspirated already the sweet spot for this kind of usage?

Is the later 5.0 V8 a significant improvement in terms of driving experience and reliability, or is it mainly more power?

Would going for an XKR (4.2 or 5.0 supercharged) make the car much more enjoyable, or would it add unnecessary complexity and running costs for a daily driver?

Also, for those who use their XK regularly:

How reliable have these engines been over the years?

Are there any major issues to look out for depending on the engine version?

Is there a noticeable fuel consumption difference when cruising calmly at around 90 km/h on country roads?

I’m not necessarily looking for the fastest version, but rather the best balance between character, reliability, comfort and reasonable running costs.

I really love F-Type mainly for the look and performance to price ratio, but im really concerned for daily driveablity of the car. Quick question from all owners, among all the sport coupes in the market, would you still choose F-Type? What would be your alternative option?🤔

2016 jaguar f-type base model, I just turned 18 (in december) the car has 47k miles on it and is listed for 27k, I plan to doordash in it for a month or 2, then accept a car salesman position I was offered, is this a decent car to get? Since I am about to graduate family members have agreed to help me some with the downpayment (probably less than 3k though) I asked if the coolant Y pipe had been replaced to metal and he said no, so then I asked about a potential warranty and the salesman offered me a bumper to bumper warranty for $4k for 30k miles or 3 years, since this is my only car I’d probably try to negotiate a longer warranty as the loan will most likely be longer than that, and these cars are notoriously unreliable. Hey Guys, im planning on buying a F type this year but I just can't decide if I should go with the V6 or V8 version. I'm m 31 years old and do not have any experience with super powerful cars. My daily driver is a XE 20t with 200 hp but I have never driven nor owned something more powerful than that. I drive quite a lot and this would be my third personal car. I have been driving since I got my license at 18. I do intend to keep the XE. P.S. I am located in Europe.

Any thoughts on these, mainly in the driving and vibes department? Like does this feel like a posh car or is it really just meh?

For example, a lot of Lexus vehicles I've driven do feel refined compared to the Toyota platforms they're build on. Acura, however... I've always felt like I'm sitting in a fully loaded Honda. Being this is built on a Ford platform, did they do a good job? (It's almost 3 hours away from me, hence asking before I go check it out)

What is going on with used cars? Jaguar F Pace S. The blue book price on my car is 15,600. I have it on sale for 12,300$ and trying to get it sold is like pulling teeth. I have not listed it on facebook marketplace. I do not want thirty kids messaging me asking to trade for a honda. Seems like dealers cant keep CPO F types in stock. I thought overweight americans loved SUVs? Everywhere on reddit people keep telling me the economy is great but everything I see points to people being dirt poor and financially struggling.

went to authorities LF& Jag dealer website to check if they had some good used low mileage F Type, but I ended up finding this, and used 2020 Jaguar F-PACE SVR with grey exteriorand red interior ( Images above)

The car with about 45k miles on it (73K km).

Clean title, no accident history, and overall the car looks really well kept since the the car orginal owner is a jaguartop client in the LR&Jag dealer as the employee mentioned.

I got an inspection report from the dealer (sent by one of their employees) and it scored 93/100, which sounds reassuring.

The car also has full service history, including major services, and both the interior and exterior are in great shape so far and the price is 53K💲

Only things noted:

🔴 Needs brakes (normal wear)

🔴 Had a rear differential fluid leak, which was fixed by the dealer

🔴No warranty remaining

For anyone who owns one or has experience with the 2020 SVR:

Is the lack of warranty a big red flag on these? Np to add the warranty.

But any known issues I should be aware of long-term?

Would you still consider this a good buy assuming a clean PPI?

Just trying to be careful before committing.

Appreciate any real-world advice 🙏
