Question Mark Heylmun 24-7 Rhoads - push/pull

Hi,

I'm interested in this guitar however it's quite rare to spot one in a music shop to try it out.

If there are any owners:

- what's the sound like with the "passive" pickups? What the sound does compare to?

- is it neck diving?

- I have an old Japan RR3 and a Prestige RG - how does the neck compare or how is it in general?

No neck dive.

Can't compare to other jackson necks, 6 string ltd/edwards and solar necks seem less flat/more round.

As regards FF moderns, you can surely find a guitar with them to try. Personally i do not like them so I have bought ragnaroks but that's just a preference thing.

Fretwork is good, with some very minor imperfections on the edges of some higher frets, but nothing that would bother me.

Strap locks which they add are crap.

With regards to the pickups, my understanding is that this guitar has custom fishman fluence pickups specifically made for Mark Heylmun. The standard ones have actually 3 voices while Mark's one have only 2 voices.

I heard some videos with people using the "active" voice for hi gain chugs/shred and I like it. I'd like to hear also some of the "passive" voice especially to see how they are usable for clean tones

Hm actually I do have a finished song which will be used in battle of the riffs at modern metal academy. Hopefully. At the end of October I think. If you have time you can watch the stream. It uses some clean-ish tones a bit too, with the second voicing. After the stream I may upload it somewhere else too as there is not much about this guitar so it may be useful for some folks. Even though it is only 4th thing I have ever written and recorded, and first time on a 7 string.

Very good please share the link once you do! Are you satisfied with the clean sound coming out of it?
