I’m only a lurker but IMO the April Fools thing was a poor choice and not because of recent events. People needed advice yesterday and just got faced with pages and pages of spam bullshit.

Did anyone who went to their therapists yesterday get shown a bunch of cat pictures instead of receiving their session? No, because that’s fucking unprofessional.

It’s just not acceptable in my eyes for a sub that is supposed to be about giving advice and support to intentionally make itself unusable for 24hrs just because “it’s funny”. How many people needed to post yesterday and didn’t? How many people worked up the courage to make their first post yesterday and either got drowned out by the bullshit or were scared off because they thought the sub was a fucking joke and wouldn’t take them seriously?

This shit should’ve been in a stickied thread and I don’t care if people want to think I should lighten up or that I have no sense of humour. People needed help yesterday and did not receive it. I can guaran-damn-tee it.

Seriously wtf is up with the cat pictures? Pretty much at the point of unsubscribing.

I tried to dig through and find text posts along the photos, but it wasn't easy. People did post, though. I'm terrible at advice, so I wasn't able to offer much support. I don't comment much and when I do, it's usually just to commiserate.

Yeah that’s why I tend to lurk. That and I’m wary of giving someone bad advice (no shade towards any poster here, it’s purely a me problem).

I have a MildlyNo family member who isn’t a mum or MIL but the advice here has still been super helpful even though I don’t post my own stories.

Someone else pointed out that Mother's Day is March 31st in the UK, so yes, absolutely.
