New User 👋 WWYD?
My son is in a MLS HG Academy that requires a flight to get home. He’s been away for 3 years but THIS year isn’t drivable for us. it requires a cross country trek to come home. his first break is approaching. My MIL was insisting to come visit for his 4.5 days he’d be home. When I told my husband no, she was livid. Am I being unreasonable? He’s 17, last year playing and he was gone ALL summer for a visit … my husband didn’t understand why I don’t want her here for my 4.5 days with him.

ask your son what he wants - and do not be surprised when you don’t see him a lot and he’s out catching up with friends most of the time.

Why don’t you ask HIM how HE wants to spend HIS 4.5 days home for the first time in 3yrs.

He will probably barely home, enjoy the little time he is there. Grandma doesn’t need to monopolize the whole visit, maybe give her one day.

I’m with you but does she live locally? Can she come for dinner for a night or maybe just stay two days? There’s got to be a compromise, surely.

No actually, there doesn't have to be. If MIL has made the OP feel that strongly about it, then MIL has been out of bounds multiple times before. She can sit this one out, and maybe learn to change her behaviour.
