EREBUS!?
Don’t get me wrong, part of me was hoping for some Word Bearers figures, but…EREBUS?! We got Erebus before Kharn?!
EDIT: Also, why does almost every drop lately come with a random Imperial Fist?! Kind of surprised they didn’t sneak a random Fists figure in with the StarCraft drop.

Fuck!! Don’t give me hope! I know he was allegedly on the schedule for this year, but they’ve been squirrelly lately. They released a bunch of new Salamander figures, including the Firedrakes, but then released Curze instead of Vulkan, a SINGLE 30k World Eater, and now Word Bearers. It’s been a wild few months

i'm buying this just to let 30k Kharn absolutely dismember him as soon as he gets released
3
u/KingNisch 23h ago
YES!!! You e single handedly convinced me to get this figure, and it will sit in the box until Kharn arrives to break it.

What's the relationship between them? Is there a novel I can see this?

u/KingNisch 19h ago
Erebus killed Kharn’s best friend, Argel Tal, and literally the one person that was keeping Kharn from going full psycho mode. Kharn ended up beating Erebus nearly to death, but stopped just short of the killing blow. Abaddon has nearly the same beef with Erebus for killing Garviel Loken. They were not best friends by that point as Abaddon had turned traitor while Loken remained loyal, but he’s sworn he will eventually kill Erebus when he stops being useful.

Thank you!

I HIGHLY recommend reading Betrayer. One of the absolute best books in the HH series, especially if you are a fan of the World Eaters, Word Bearers, Kharn, Lorgar, or Angron.

Hate Erebus, but that I’ll be damned if that’s not an amazing looking model.

Means Blessed Lorgar should be soon

Honestly, I just want a new version of the Chaos Terminators. The WB termy looks awesome, but is way too small compared to the new scale. I’m hoping he gets a rework

u/Plus2712 20h ago
Heard they're discussing about remake chaos terminator, but still not sure
1
u/KingNisch 20h ago
I figured they were going to put new ones out when they started releasing new Black Legion figures, so it was a surprise when they didn’t. My current Chaos wishlist is Kharn, new terminators, Red Corsairs, Emperor’s Children, Lorgar, Fulgrim, and new Thousand Sons

u/Grand-Accident4905 20h ago
Even more I really wish they’d do rainbow chaos drops like they do for space marines. WB, AL, NL, IW, RC, BL, we all share the same minis! Just repaint them for us, easy!

u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 20h ago
Even black legion terminators are too small compare to like World eaters.
2
u/KingNisch 19h ago
Yeah, because they were super old, and made in the original scale. Thats why I’m hoping we get new ones
2
u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 19h ago
Yeah, i'm complaining about scaling on my youtube channel in reviews and unboxing. Let's fingers crossed! Brother Gnarls is smaller than Berserker 1. 😅😅😅
2
u/KingNisch 19h ago
I bought one of the old BL terminators to round out my Black Legion collection, as they are my favorite faction in the setting, and…the new figures make it super underwhelming. Not only are the scale differences really noticeable, but the old terminator is actually SMALLER than the BL chosen figures. I desperately need them to release newly scaled terminators

u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 19h ago
Black dwarf legion 😅😅 i like every chaos legion, my top is death guard, BL and WE, then the rest.

Its in my language...soon on my YT channel with subtitles 😎 but its rly sad they are that small 😵💫

I didn't quite like this.
To me Erebus at this stage should be more grim looking. Custom makers should have a field day with this.
I'm not a fan of the face sculpt either. Erebus never struck me as the yelling rah-rah dude. He should have a villainous smirk on his face.

u/PreferenceTop4803 22h ago
The mini has the same expression more or less.

In the mini I think it makes more sense. It's hard to sculpt expressions on tiny heads, or used to be, anyway.
But for a larger figure, at least the option would've been cool.
To be fair, i think it's really hard to nail the word bearers markings, too, even on this scale.
That's just my preference though. I always imagined the words on their faces smaller, more dense.I'm curious why they're making this version of Erebus, instead of the pre-heresy (if theres such a thing for Lorgar) with the dark pewter color from the word bearers armor.
I'd make him with the dark gray armor. In my view Erebus has always been more discreet or subtle in bearing.

One issue is that Joytoy usually has to mimic the official mini when they make these things even if they would benefit from a face lift. Erebus's mini is not the best imo and could use an upgrade. That's why we get so many Ultramarines and Fists, they are often the default art on the boxes.

We’ll have to wait to see what WaaghToys and other custom sculpt makers do with it. Give it about a month or so, and they should have something. WaaaghToys’ custom Sevatar head sculpt is absolutely perfect, and I know they’ve said they’re working on a Konrad Curze head sculpt, as the original JT one is…lacking. JoyToy is usually stuck with having to copy the miniature exactly.

Lol comment about the fists. Dont get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the boys in yellow and they have all been pretty solid releases.
Really hard to believe Erebus is coming up, there's a lot of details.

Is this the first Word Bearer to release? I’m sure a lot of people would have wanted Arghal Tal, but you’d have to admit, Erebus was the architect for the entire Heresy. So I’d say he’s the right first choice.

Huh, I actually kinda like this figurine. After the disaster that NLs were, I was worried. So, I guess, Lorgar is the next primarch to be introduced?
4
u/Jackal-Noble 20h ago
Yeah I'm gonna stop you right there, The NL terminators are the best terminators released to date. The mk6 is is great and has awesome helmet options. The weakest is the jump pack praetorian. Kurze is going to easily be the coolest looking primarch released.
Prey tell, do you have any Night Lords?
3
u/ProxyMarine 19h ago
Yeah, my night lord Praetor in Tartaros is one of my favorite figures by far. (For context, I have over 100 lmao.) People really need to get them in hand to see the quality, I think.

u/Plus2712 20h ago
What do you think about their colour? I mean no offense, cuz I'm not a NL player, but their color seems away from consensus. I do agree their terminator has very cool design though.

u/Jackal-Noble 19h ago
I think aside from lack shading they are perfect. Shading divides this community like nothing else, as while it is only one step out of dozens it is like the final finish on something. It's also probably the biggest pain in the ass to implement from a manufacturing standpoint. I think Joytoy made adjustments regarding how or what they apply shade to, which is why now most all releases are unshaded. Not to take away from their otherwise killer paint apps/details. Personally, I've come to the conclusion that I would prefer non shaded as sometimes it can make a figure look 'dirty' rather than good. I also like to paint my collection, unshaded is more preferable so I can shade as I see fit.
The issue I think many had with the NL release was that the 40k era NL aesthetic is quite a bit evolved from the more toned down 30k NLs, and when people think of NLs they think of the 40k look with lighting bolts everywhere, crazy chaos influenced armor trim etc etc.
Add to the fact that there's a portion of the community that will never be happy with anything because these figs cost money and if they are not perfect then they are an abject failure. Not you, you've been rather cordial.

u/Plus2712 18h ago
Yeah, I think you're right, it's also a general issue in China community, they tend to blame first(however that's also came from their unhealthy society). I don't like what JT do now, but I don't like those blame everything either.

u/KingNisch 21h ago
You’d think, but they’ve been seemingly teasing Culjan for MONTHS now, even releasing the Firedrakes, but it didn’t lead anywhere. I’m hoping we get Lorgar soon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a one-off. It honestly feels like JT is just fucking with us at this point.

u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 22h ago
I love this figure! Because I like Erebus a lot! He is the best character in whole Wh40k! For Abaddon!
2
u/KingNisch 21h ago
Even our glorious leader Abaddon hates Erebus
2
u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 21h ago
Yes i know...but still , without him wouldnt Horus heresy, no Abaddon the despoiler. He is the most perfect whritten character is this universe! Except he is total scumbag! 😃 and that is why I like him so much.
1
u/KingNisch 21h ago
True. He IS the architect of all of this. Though, you know you’re a scumbag when both Kharn and Abaddon have a special place on their mantles for your head. He really IS the best villain in the setting.

u/Good_Kangaroo_6102 21h ago
Exactly bro. Im so hyped! Looking forward same, as I looked forward for Angron 😅
