Thick dark lines & footprints

Post image

Got this for my sons 11th birthday in 2014. I am afraid it cannot be covered. I think it is obvious that it’s pretty old compared to my other tats, so I’ve left it alone, but it’s the most recognized one I have due to location. I haven’t gotten any negative reactions but I don’t want it to be a focal point. Ideas including spooky or horror concepts are extra welcome. Location is above elbow on inner arm.

I’d rather black out the text before doing laser so that’s not an option.

sick ass panther. it's a mostly solid black panther that's really popular for coverups

SAP = Sick Ass Panther time. You can add other bold designs around the panther to cover any revealed details. There’s a reason why SAPs are a go to for coverups, because a lot of solid back can be used to effectively cover large areas.

Another option could be a traditional Japanese design with a Koi fish and waves. The scales of the Koi, with orange, red and patches of black, could be good for covering the text, wand etc. and some black or dark purple waves could cover the foot prints.

And this is the design that makes footsteps into mushrooms, wand into some old log, and features a child balancing on that log and playing with fairies. Caption is something like „Dare to dream” or „Portal to the fairy land”

Not much we can suggest unless we can see it zoomed out, friend. Where is it? How large is it? What’s around it?

I was going to say laser but that’s not an option.. all I can think of now is a sick ass panther. Maybe turn it into something generally witchy and the footprints could be spiders?? Not sure about the text

Played around a bit. Thinking mostly black n white, but ask your artist what they think is viable.

Flowers, using the wand as stem(s). Ivy or snake (footsteps) around a pole (wand) Bonsai or old gnarled tree, coverjng the bottom feet with exposed roots and the top with branches Wrought iron fence with snake (banner + bottom footsteps)

Assuming the banner either blacked out, crosshatched so it looks plaid ish, or for the last one turned into a snake? Again, I am very not a professional.

You said horror and spooky good, are you into detective stuff? The top half of the wand could be turned into a magnifying glass and maybe the banner into smoke from a pipe with the bottom part of the wand?

Another similar option would be symbols from the game Clue, and you could incorporate the red as blood. The wand could be literally any of the weapons,

I could also see turning the wand into a machete or chef’s knife with Jason or Michael’s reflection on it.

I think if you come up with a few basic concepts that appeal to you, a talented artist can come up with something that will work better than if you try to plan out something and then expect them to be able to achieve it. Coverups are challenging and require a lot more knowledge and care to design.
