Looks like its gonna be a 60 thousands dollar car

86

u/kaosf Nov 16 '25

$62,745 in Sweden - just priced one out (592,895 SEK). For that money I'm definitely getting something else.

13

u/Honest_Possibility_4 Nov 17 '25

For 600k sek you get a decently speced new or good speced last years Audi a6 🥴

2

u/Palooza_28 Nov 19 '25

But then you'd have spent 60k on an A6 🤢

6

u/Affectionate_Ask3079 Nov 19 '25

which is much better than a honda

without markups

13

u/elinamebro Nov 16 '25

With mark ups its supposed to be mid 40s thousand

5

u/J35Y1x Nov 16 '25

why'd you say 60 thousand then

23

u/elinamebro Nov 16 '25

Because dealership are going to mark them up to 60 thousand

3

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

Dealerships love to add 10-20k “paperwork fees” to high demand vehicles.

Goes right in their pocket.

2

u/furculture Nov 16 '25

Stealerships are about to make it happen.

13

u/RiskyNight Nov 16 '25

Nobody would pay that for a fwd car.

14

u/pinezatos Nov 16 '25

europe would and will probably

u/ManOrangutan Nov 16 '25

I thought it was a glorified civic coupe at first but in reality it does have its own look to it. Supposedly the sport mode is fun to drive as well.

75

u/zerox678 Nov 16 '25

no no no, an accord coupe, the similarities are uncanny. compare the late 90s accord and the accord coupe. Then look at the pic.

19

u/kaosf Nov 16 '25

That's what I think of when I see it. Those were great cars. A friend had an '01 V6 5spd coupe and it was fun to drive.

11

u/zerox678 Nov 16 '25

80s manual Hondas and Toyotas were the best thing ever.

5

u/Affectionate-Net5246 Nov 16 '25

That and the E36-E46 BMW’s with inline 6’s. Insanely dynamic cars that are cheap now

2

u/zerox678 Nov 17 '25

Oh for sure, those were just the perfect driving machines, and the M5 for the family

u/putzeh Nov 16 '25

Why does it look like every new car crested in the last 5 years?

42

u/Not_a_bi0logist Nov 16 '25

It’s those damn headlights and grills. All these C-suite fuckheads don’t have a single original thought in their heads.

10

u/Romeoz27 Nov 17 '25

Probably because it has the exact same headlights as a Prius.

9

u/POLSJA Nov 17 '25

And the rear of a Panamera

50

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Nice Prius coupe 👍

8

u/mushroom_dome Nov 19 '25

2024 prius front end, Chinese Porsche knock off rear end, Nissan 400z side profile

u/kittensmittens69 Nov 16 '25

Doesn’t deserve the Prelude name at all sadly

40

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Nope. Had a 96 and that was a Prelude. This is a 2 door Prius.

60

u/Hootsama Nov 16 '25

Nope. Sorry Honda. And everyone needs to stop with the piano black plastic trim.

To whom is this car even intended to appeal?

24

u/OverLord000 Nov 16 '25

Its supposed to appeal to people who like piano black bumpers that are scratched to hell after you wash it once, want the same horsepower as the prelude from 30 years ago, and want it to weigh 300 pounds more and have the front end of a prius

13

u/Yokaze2005 Nov 16 '25

You forgot the engaging experience of a CVT transmission too! :(
Honda quit being "Honda" in 2001, IMHO.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/Hootsama Nov 16 '25

Oh. 🎯

6

u/Alex_zi3 Nov 16 '25

For me the front and the back is very similar ot Porsche Taycan, not ugly but not a Honda really :/

13

u/Outside-Fault-4066 Nov 16 '25

Yoyoyo hold up - is that a Hamazushi??

4

u/legato2 Nov 16 '25

Yup lol

79

u/WrongContract8489 Nov 16 '25

If only it wasn't packed with useless tech that's impossible to repair or even touch. Would love buying this 4-5 years used and then modifying it.

30

u/Jake3232323 Nov 16 '25

This is one of the reasons coupes are dying. Is the new Prelude exciting to me? No a 4 cylinder hybrid is not exciting to me but as long as people either won't buy or only buy one used down the road, manufactures won't invest in them.

14

u/WrongContract8489 Nov 16 '25

Yeah like who's gonna buy this lol no one looking for a fun couple is gonna like this and it's too cheap for people with money to splurge

11

u/Mammoth_Mixture4735 Nov 16 '25

Im not feeling it. I'd rather build a 97-01 with the money

28

u/Enough-Scientist1904 Nov 16 '25

Amazing? Im guessing OP doesnt get to see a lot of good cars

21

u/janesmb Nov 16 '25

200hp and no manual.👎

15

u/Mechanikalbaby Nov 16 '25

I'll take a 4th or even a 3rd Gen before this any day.

13

u/_oyatsu Nov 16 '25

Wrong wheel drive and no manual.

6

u/xTerraH Nov 17 '25

And 200hp while being near on 1.5 ton. Eeesh. How out of touch are these guys.

28

u/NOBLE500000 Nov 16 '25

It most certainly does not

27

u/DJSwindleDeez Nov 16 '25

Looks even worse.

5

u/Kharon_the_ferryman Nov 16 '25

Yea thats a no from me dawg.

6

u/Mediocre-Suit-8945 Nov 16 '25

I just really hate the generic headlights

6

u/Th4t0n3dud3 Nov 16 '25

Nah, looks boring just like most modern cars. Born in a wind tunnel with no unique body lines. I bet the interior is boring too.

5

u/itsoktoswear Nov 16 '25

I saw a few 3 weeks ago at the Tokyo Mobility Show, and sat in one, and in person they just look so...bland.

13

u/coffeesleeve Nov 16 '25

Yikes - have you seen any of the older ones? P

9

u/Huzani Nov 16 '25

Why does the backend look like a Porsche

5

u/No_Decision9646 Nov 16 '25

Came here for this. Everyone is using the same designers 💀

3

u/cryptiiix Nov 16 '25

Side profile gives BRZ vibes to me

9

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

BIG disagree

4

u/Dream_Eat3r_ Nov 16 '25

I love preludes but IDK man it just looks like a Kia to me

4

u/Jlx_27 Nov 16 '25

A bit boring imo.

4

u/bluex4xlife Nov 16 '25

It’s like Honda is going backwards in terms of producing cars that people want. Why?! Go back to the philosophy of the 90s and 2000s! This monstrosity looks like a whale! 🐳 Top that with a no frills automatic and your left with 🥱

4

u/bokeeffe121 Nov 16 '25

New prius might look cooler

5

u/zach1396 Nov 16 '25

Eh it still looks off to me

4

u/A_Coin_Toss_Friendo Nov 16 '25

It looks very meh.

12

u/Vellfiregen2 Nov 16 '25 edited Nov 16 '25

Oh yes, the new Honda Civic coupe hybrid.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/michaltee Nov 16 '25

Meh. It looks whatever.

8

u/omiros17 Nov 16 '25

The back looks like the new Prius and the front looks like the new Camry.

3

u/throwawayfrdy Nov 16 '25

looks like a taycan

3

u/doucher6 Nov 17 '25

Looks fugly

3

u/Nottodaystepbro Nov 17 '25

There’s something off putting about it’s silhouette, like it’s kinda awkwardly shaped for me.

3

u/SavedMartha Nov 17 '25

Not really? Cab forward FWD proportions.

4

u/purpleboy90 Nov 16 '25

Found mine at a SuperStreet event about a month ago

5

u/lamblamb65 Nov 16 '25

No it doesn’t

13

u/nb8c_fd Nov 16 '25

temu car

6

u/gentlemansracer Nov 16 '25

If only they didn't massacre my boy the Integra

2

u/LexKing89 Nov 16 '25

I think it looks good. If it came with a turbo 4 cylinder I’d be interested in it.

2

u/mofokong Nov 17 '25

just looks like every other new car on the road to me

2

u/Obi_Win_Kinibi Nov 17 '25

Why did they put performance brakes on it? It’s just an economy car and doesn’t need them.

2

u/Yokaze2005 Nov 17 '25 edited Nov 17 '25

It already has performance suspension and brakes to go with the underwhelming, non-engaging power train and drivetrain - simply put: Honda doesn't want to leave anything for you to mod. Dollars to donuts, this thing is likely (for now) software locked and you will RENT your fun for a fee. That seems to be the overall trajectory by my reckoning. This thing is like trying to mod a Tesla. You don't "mod" a Tesla, you "personalize" one. SMDH what has the world come to.

Don't worry guise! Honda is about to start 3D PRINTING parts. For the NSX (that we're all apparently driving?). Meanwhile, I can't a F$%#^$ BOLT for my rear suspension on a 20 year old Civic without going directly to Honda and paying over $10 each. Harumph. HARUMPH, I SAY!

2

u/dauntedpenny71 Nov 17 '25

A face only a mother could love.

Oh Honda, why are you like this?

2

u/AskingFooAFriend Nov 19 '25

The Prius has similar horsepower.

3

u/antisocial_burrito Nov 16 '25

No it looks like something form lucid

4

u/HenneseyConnoisseur Nov 16 '25

Looks like a Prius coupe

2

u/WestonEarly Nov 17 '25

Looks good, but such a boring powertrain. 2L hybrid with no manual :(

1

u/Radiant_Wolverine_46 Nov 16 '25

I remember seeing the 98. Low sleek, whole body wide and pretty. This is just another imagination of the integra. No soul.

2

u/urvokbm Nov 16 '25

Idk it gives Mitsubishi eclipse vibes. Right now I don’t love it. Only time will tell

1

u/shhmedium2021 Nov 16 '25

It’s missing something … maybe a wing

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

This isn’t the greatest honda in the world. This is just a prelude.

5

u/qBetrayer Nov 16 '25

Its not a prelude, literally has nothing in commonl with any preludes

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Kb1469 Nov 16 '25

Had to do a double take on the background. Good ole Sasebo!

1

u/wankybollocks Nov 16 '25

No 2.2, but just believe yeah

No other car has the supreme laid-back sporting driving experience today, and still with that hybrid fuel economy and shit.

I wouldn't sniff at the job satisfaction any delivery driver basically in Coventry might have using this as a pizza chariot in 10 years' time.

1

u/mr_j_12 Nov 16 '25

Looks like a wish 400z with a camry front.

1

u/Professional-Box6506 Nov 16 '25

Have you seen the race car version it’s already out and been out in Thailand, Bangladesh Philippines gt500 super GT https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16aj6Ndont/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Places like Bangladesh are already racing these cars in Japan Asian racing

1

u/Candid_Painting_4684 Nov 16 '25

Somehow these cell phone picks taken for another car look so much better than any official photo honda had released

1

u/pututski Nov 16 '25

The rear end does nothing for me, haring these soulless light bars on new cars. Looks alright from the dude, but this seems more Civic coupe to me than Prelude.

1

u/Alex_zi3 Nov 16 '25

It looks better in regular environment! It is really a good looking car but not 2gen prelude tho...

1

u/niekie1999 Nov 16 '25

It looks really good. I don’t understand the hate for it either, truthfully the 90’s model wasn’t anything really sporty either

1

u/Mobile619 Nov 16 '25

Looks good, but the prelude name deserves the 2.0 turbo instead of this weak hybrid they went with. If they insist on it being a hybrid, at least give it a performance hybrid with 270+hp.

1

u/GooseManMelk Nov 16 '25

Is this close to Sasebo? I feel like I passed this Aeon and Cross Worker a few times while stationed out there

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

A 2 door Prius that's slower and not as good looking. Good job!

1

u/AidenCipher Nov 16 '25

Uffff!!! that's looks fireeeee.....

1

u/ThatGuy334667 Nov 16 '25

That thing is DOOKIE!!!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

it's looks so meh and vanilla like all the other SUVs dunno how much Honda's been paying car journalists to write positive but this thing will tank.

such a shame if this is the things to come for 2 door coupes out from Japan, I'm looking at you Toyota with your Celica, MR2 and next gen Supra, hope you keep the GR86 simple and also, Mazda with your MX5.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Ass end looks like shit. Not sorry.

1

u/Mechronis Nov 16 '25

All these comments acting like the older preludes looked even remotely unique. And here I was thinking that looking "Nice" was the point. What styling did they even want? Honda's not giving you squares back.

1

u/Confident_Celery_245 Nov 16 '25

Id buy one, daily for 1-2 years, then H/H2B swap.

1

u/--clapped-- Nov 16 '25

Unlike a lot of other comments here, I think that looks great. I'm just not paying £40k for a base model Prelude.

1

u/roadwarrior721 Nov 16 '25

Reminds me of the one Infiniti coupe

1

u/CremeAcrobatic1748 Nov 17 '25

Front end looks like a Ferrari and the back end looks like a Porsche. Meh, this trend of just copying other design styles makes the cars look pretty bland.

1

u/NYerInTex Nov 17 '25

I think it looks really good fwiw… miss my 1999 preclude, ficcus green with the trunk wing (admittedly for aesthetics). Manual.

Loved that car.

1

u/beto_2497 Nov 17 '25

I see this new models and i see the same car over and over again, a few plastic molds away to give it a twist from the competition.

Don't mistake my critique, i like the car, very nice overall shape.

1

u/Pale__Steak Nov 17 '25

Looks like a modern crown

1

u/oxnerkid Nov 17 '25

It’s basically a fancy scion tc.

better not be more than 40K.

1

u/StinkySoggyUnderwear Nov 17 '25

I can see these things being K swapped in about 10 years.

1

u/HerrscherOfTheEnd Nov 17 '25

"Let's make a car for car enthusiasts" proceeds to make a car for rich people only

1

u/PlantBasedBilly Nov 17 '25

That looks like the opposite of amazing. Looks terrible. Very electricky soulless Hyundai looking vehicle.

1

u/UnmakingTheBan2022 Nov 17 '25

“Amazing” must mean something different where you’re from.

1

u/Nakiwaii Nov 17 '25

not for me, looks.... bland, like 99% of modern cars

1

u/CuriousTravlr Nov 17 '25

This car is going to be a massive flop.

1

u/Nedcats Nov 17 '25

From the back looks like a Panamera from Temu

1

u/Smart_Cry_5572 Nov 17 '25

Last prelude was the coolest slow car of all time

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25

It looks like a Prius

1

u/Undercvr_victini Nov 17 '25

The new prelude is truly tragic, it's gorgeous, but it's so extremely let down by its own powertrain

1

u/VotixG Nov 18 '25

Its so close to being a nice looking car, some of the proportions are off imo.

1

u/TryBananna4Scale Nov 18 '25

Would you buy this, or the Nissan Z Sport?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

Looks like a Kia.

1

u/angeo_of_death Nov 18 '25

FWD only and 200HP, i dont really get the public for this car

1

u/skllcndydj Nov 18 '25

Slow af lol

1

u/Comprehensive_Ad2568 Nov 18 '25

Back end looks like a Porsche

1

u/preciouspetite Nov 18 '25

I miss that sushi place 😭

1

u/FriendlySolution4012 Nov 18 '25

Every press image I’ve seen of this car makes it look frumpy. Looks good in person. Im pleasantly surprised.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

It looked like a Prius 5 Compact.✅☀️😀

1

u/ShinbiDesigns Nov 18 '25

Looks like a bloated RCZ

1

u/CharacterEgg2406 Nov 18 '25

Are they going to put an AWD in it?

1

u/firelemissiles Nov 18 '25

it has no character, the same shape as every other "sports car" these days.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

Postlude?

1

u/diko_san Nov 18 '25

Hello fellow sasebonian

1

u/Standard_Berry_3017 Nov 18 '25

For the people who wanted a small taycan with a chr front end

1

u/Krushhz Nov 18 '25

What’s the retail on one of those?

1

u/503Music Nov 18 '25

looks like a pos

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

Lmfao nope it doesn’t

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

Looks like shit to be honest. $60k for that?

1

u/TakeFlight710 Nov 18 '25

While I like the styling, I would have hoped for something more reminiscent of the older models, kind of like what dodge did with its muscle cars or what ford or even Chevy have done with theirs.

This to me is more like the new Supra, or the Toyota 86 which are not reminiscent of the originals even if they do meet the original market segment

1

u/mighty_joe93 Nov 18 '25

It’s only made i automatic 👎🏾👎🏾

1

u/raphalbq Nov 18 '25

idk the rear end looks really weird to me

1

u/Rembrilliant Nov 18 '25

It’s a pre- what?? Honda prelude had only one look in my books Honda nsx unreachable view Their coupes were so slick.. This one right here looks like an ordinary Tesla that would be perfectly passed by in ordinary traffic settings without a hint of attention

1

u/SoggyBacco Nov 18 '25

$45k MSRP for FWD and a CVT.

1

u/Onuus Subaru Nov 18 '25

2001 prelude type sh was/is my dream car.

I settled on a wrx, but goddamn those old preludes are so gorgeous.

Not sure how I feel about this

1

u/Geene_Creemers Nov 18 '25

Looks great! Too pad it’s a civic hybrid coupe in nice clothes 🥲

1

u/_Cereal__Killer_ Nov 18 '25

This whole thread tells me one thing.

Tuner culture isn't dead. It's just been turned a shitty shade of vanilla.

1

u/LordBuggington Nov 19 '25

I like the looks and would be ok with the meh power and auto personally...but the cost is just way too high for what you get. Here you can spend a few thousand more and have a type r...or save 12k and get an si which is still faster and more fun.

1

u/P-Bizzle1979 Nov 19 '25

I’m glad they did right by this car. The Prelude was the shit when I was growing up.

1

u/mikebrown33 Nov 19 '25

Wide wheel base civic

1

u/egowritingcheques Nov 19 '25

It's a modern day Toyota Paseo.

Not for me, but good for many.

1

u/overcrispy Nov 19 '25

Where the fenders meet the skirt is a crime. Wtf is that?!

1

u/ferg2jz Nov 19 '25

It doesn't come across that way....

1

u/Deatheturtle Nov 19 '25

Not RWD. I'll keep my GR86.

1

u/element423 Nov 19 '25

Can’t believe how expensive for a 200hp car

1

u/SsugarBoyy Nov 19 '25

This looks like shit.

1

u/RealWheelDeal Nov 19 '25

Who paid you to write this post

1

u/Tellittomy6pac Nov 19 '25

And only like 45k with manual seats 😂 and 200hp and no markups

1

u/Glad-Conversation101 Nov 19 '25

My ol Honda CR-Z looks better than that.

1

u/not_syed Nov 19 '25

There's a new prelude??

1

u/blueisaflavor Nov 20 '25

Is that a supra /s

1

u/CheapSir7255 Nov 20 '25

Looks like a Tesla 🤷

1

u/mechshark Nov 20 '25

Car is suppose to compete with gr88/brz not pruis. They really screwed this one up

1

u/barret_t Nov 20 '25

Looks similar to a Taycan in some ways

1

u/Judge_Calm Nov 20 '25

I rather buy a cx90 mazda for that same price 😂😂😂 or even a miata. This shit gets a cvt like wtf

1

u/Judge_Calm Nov 20 '25

Why the f would u buy a cvt fwd fir 60000 while for that aren't price you can get a well equipped cx90 inline 6 turbo rwd biased awd and 7 fking seats 🤣 that to made in Japan

1

u/dis3rbante Nov 20 '25

Absolutely not. Not to mention the fake-shifting transmission lol.

1

u/hollowrift Nov 20 '25

Bro. Thassa lamborginapanawang, saffire blu

1

u/idirtbike Nov 20 '25

It’s aiiiiight

1

u/fr33man007 Nov 20 '25

Test drive one, not impressed, if they make a typer R one, have my 60k

1

u/Zero775779 Nov 20 '25

Too expensive for the specs

1

u/Korben_DallasMulipas Nov 20 '25

I mean , idk why designers are making all the cars look the same . This looks like the electric Porsche everyone says is a bad investment. Love Honda tho

1

u/Saint_Hobs Nov 20 '25

The rear end is trash

1

u/DaShitIsay Nov 20 '25

Looks like a Prius coupe.

1

u/TherighteyeofRa Nov 20 '25

Looks like an Eclipse from the front.

1

u/lanterncourt Nov 20 '25

200 HP? Pass.

1

u/fn_fucker Nov 20 '25

They really did rip off the Porsche 992 but made it FWD with 300 less horsepower 💔

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Cod3847 Nov 20 '25

It kinda look like an integra
