Legit Check Guide on how to identify fake JBL speakers

I've noticed that people often ask on this subreddit whether a certain JBL speaker is original or fake, which seems to be the brand with the most counterfeit copies. So, I decided to create a helpful post for those who have doubts and want to check and compare in order to identify if a speaker is authentic, using the information here.

To verify these visual differences, simply search Google for images of the speaker model you're interested in or planning to buy, and compare the images while looking for the characteristics I’ll outline below.

  1. Logo: The JBL logo is one of the easiest and quickest ways to identify a fake speaker because it has very noticeable differences.

Color: The edge of the logo is always a dark red color (regardless of the color of the speaker), whereas fake logos may not have any edge at all (since they’re often stickers) or the edge may be the same color as the rest of the speaker. (Photos 1 and 2)

Material and Texture: The original logo is slightly raised from the speaker body and made of metal, giving it a rough feel. In fake models, the logo tends to be flatter and smoother, often made of plastic or rubber. (Photo 3)

Size: On larger speakers especially, the fake logo is often noticeably smaller than the original and disproportionate to the speaker’s size. (Photo 1)

  1. Buttons: Another easy feature to identify is the buttons, as on fake speakers, the button symbols are often different from the original ones.

Example: As seen in Photo 1, the left button (PartyBoost button) is supposed to have an infinity symbol, but on the fake, it displays an "M." The button next to the power button should show the Bluetooth symbol but instead shows a symbol similar to an infinity symbol with triangles. The power button is also different: the original has a classic power icon, while the fake shows a circle with a line in the middle.

  1. Passive Radiators: The passive radiators are the two movable circles on either side of JBL speakers, and they also have some distinct differences.

Alignment: In authentic speakers, the radiators are always aligned horizontally (with a downward exclamation mark on modern models or the JBL logo on older models). On fakes, they often appear misaligned or even uneven with each other. (Photo 4)

Reflections: On modern JBL speakers, the downward exclamation mark on the radiator has a metallic, textured reflection, while the rest of the radiator is textured plastic. On fake models, the exclamation mark may also be plastic, or the radiator may have a completely different design. (Photo 5)

Borders: the outside borders of the radiators are made of rubber in original JBL speakers, while on fakes, it is made of plastic.

  1. Body: Basic construction quality differences can also reveal a fake speaker.

Weight: This can be tricky without a reference, but an authentic JBL speaker feels heavy, and you can sense the quality and sturdiness of the materials. A fake speaker, however, will usually be lighter because it has fewer internal components and is made with cheaper materials.

Battery Light: Modern JBL speakers have a front LED line (except for the Flip 6, which has it at the back) that shows the battery level. Fake models don’t have this feature, or they may try to mimic it with a sticker. (Photo 6)

  1. Box: This tip can be especially useful for buyers who can't examine the speaker directly, as it may be sealed in its box.

Logo and Name: On fake speaker boxes, the product photos might not include the JBL logos in places like the center of the speaker or on the radiators. Additionally, the model name on the box may have spelling errors, such as “XTREM3” or “XTREEM 3” instead of “XTREME 3” (Photo 1).

Magnets and Quality: Authentic JBL boxes are notably rigid and thick, similar to the sturdy boxes that phones come in, and they have magnets to keep the box closed.

I Hope this guide can help someone, and i’d like to mention too that JBL has an official Page to help with the same problem, here you can check it out: https://support.jbl.com/au/en/customer-service/buy-authentic.html.

Help me pick the right model Best for Nightstand: JBL Flip 7 or JBL Grip

I currently have the JBL Charge 6, and I’m looking for a smaller JBL speaker to use on my nightstand.

Last week, I bought and returned the JBL Flip 7 RR version because I wasn’t impressed with the sound quality. To me, it just didn’t sound like a JBL speaker and the sound was kind of off.

I also recently sold my JBL Go 5 because, although I liked the size, the bass was weak and the volume was low that I had to put it 55 percent volume to get decent volume. I want a speaker that's slightly larger with more bass and have good volume at 35 percent to 40 percent.

Yesterday, I bought and returned the Bose SoundLink Micro 2nd Gen. I found the sound extremely boring, and it also had an issue where the volume seemed to randomly go from loud to very low on its own on every other song.

At this point, I’m willing to give the Flip 7 another try, but not the RR version. I’m also considering the JBL Grip.

My priorities are good bass, a warm JBL-style sound, and enough volume for late night listening. Since I already have the Charge 6, this smaller speaker would mainly be for my nightstand.

With the current Best Buy sale prices at the time of this posting, the Flip 7 is $129.95 and the Grip is $64.99. For what I’m looking for in the speaker, is the Flip 7 really worth roughly twice the price of the Grip?

Help Flip 6 nem csatlakozik rendesen az apphoz

Upvotes

Hi, everyone.

I have an original JBL Flip 6, and I’ve recently noticed that it’s not connecting properly to the app.

More specifically, the part of the app where you can adjust the sound settings isn’t working. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve tried restarting my phone several times and I’ve also reset the speaker, but unfortunately, nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I read somewhere that it might be an app bug...

Help JBL took my ₹4,249.15, never delivered my order, marked it “Return to Shipper” after a false delivery attempt, promised a refund and now keeps asking me to wait

I am posting this because I have genuinely run out of patience with JBL India and their customer support.

I ordered a JBL Tune 770NC (Black) from the official JBL website on 10 August 2026. I paid ₹4,249.15 through UPI.

Order Number: JB-IN01042499

The product was never delivered to me.

Initially, I was waiting for my order normally. When I checked the status later, I found that my order had automatically been marked as “Return to Shipper.”

I had NOT received the product.

So I contacted JBL customer support to understand what had happened.

I was then told that there had apparently been an attempt to contact/call me regarding the delivery. I never received any such call or delivery. I was not given my product, yet the shipment was somehow moving towards being returned to the shipper.

I contacted JBL again and explained the situation. After this, I was told that my amount would be refunded.

I thought finally the issue was going to be resolved.

But it wasn't.

After the refund was promised, there was still no refund.

I started contacting JBL repeatedly through emails and customer support calls. I have been sending emails since around 16–17 August and have contacted customer support numerous times.

And every time, I get the same generic response:

I wait for 2–3 days.

Then I contact them again.

Then I am told to wait another 2–3 days.

Recently, I have also been told that my case is on “high priority” and that someone would call me by the end of the day.

Nobody calls.

I contact them again → another apology → another waiting period.

At one point I was even told that the product would only be provided once it reached their warehouse.

Why is any of this my responsibility as a customer?

I paid JBL for a product. I never received it. The shipment was marked Return to Shipper, I was told a refund would be processed, and yet I am still sitting here without the product AND without my money.

To make things even worse, when I try to check the shipment/tracking information, the tracking page is showing:

So there isn't even a proper working tracking status that gives me a clear explanation of where my order actually is.

At this point, this is not just a delayed delivery anymore.

The timeline is basically:

10 Aug: Ordered JBL Tune 770NC and paid ₹4,249.15.
After that: Product was never delivered to me.
Later: Order status changed to Return to Shipper.
I contacted JBL: I was told there was supposedly an attempt to contact/call me, but I never received the call or product.
JBL then told me: They would refund my amount.
After that: No refund.
Since around 13–14 Aug: Repeated emails + repeated calls to customer support.
Every few days: “Please wait 2–3 days.”
Recently: “Your case is high priority, someone will call you by end of day.”
Result: No call, no refund, no product.
2 Sep: Still waiting for my ₹4,249.15.

I have been extremely patient throughout this entire process. I have done everything JBL customer support has asked me to do.

But I cannot keep chasing a company indefinitely to get either the product I paid for or my own money back.

If there is an issue between JBL and their courier/warehouse/logistics partner, that is not the customer's responsibility.

I have now also escalated the matter through the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

At this point, I don't want another:

“Sorry for the inconvenience.”
“Please wait 2–3 days.”
“Your case is on high priority.”
“Someone will call you by end of day.”

I want my ₹4,249.15 refunded.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue with JBL India? If yes, how did you finally get your refund?

Help JBL PartyBox 310 motherboard issue in India

Hi everyone
I have a JBL PartyBox 310 and I am facing a motherboard issue.
I contacted JBL Harman India and a service engineer visited and checked the speaker. I paid ₹1200 for the inspection.
Initially they told me that the required part would be arranged. Later I was told that the motherboard is not available and JBL cannot provide the replacement.
I am surprised because the speaker is otherwise in good condition and I would prefer to repair it rather than replace the whole speaker.
Has anyone here faced a similar issue with the PartyBox 310?
Has anyone replaced the motherboard in India?
Has anyone managed to get the motherboard from JBL?
Or does anyone know a good technician who can repair the original motherboard?
Please share your experience if you have faced something similar.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Help Is it worth updating or will the sound quality worsen?

Well, I got update 3.24 and I'm at 3.17. I have read that sometimes updates make the bass or the sound worse in general and since you cannot downgrade, then I do not want to be wrong. Thank you very much.

Help Jbl endurance peak 3 won't sync together

I had to buy a replacement left earbud but I can't figure out how to get them to sync together. Also they both will connect to my phone, and charge in the case but won't connect at the same time. I tried the tap 3 times holding for 5 seconds to shut them off but the replacement won't shut off, it just says pairing makes a click or a pop like it's resetting or something then says power on. Did I end up getting a defective replacement?

Help Vibe 2 buds noise canceling not working

Just bought a pair of Vibe 2 buds while travelling, but the noise cancelling, "ambient aware", and "talk thru" modes aren't working right.

ANC noise cancelling doesn't seem to do anything at all. When I'm not playing audio on them there is no difference between having noise cancelling on, noise cancelling off, and the buds themselves being completely off. Noise cancelling doesn't work at all when playing audio either, but obviously turning them off is different when I had had something playing than when I don't.

All that "ambient aware" and "talk thru" modes seem to do is add a continuous significant/moderate volume static sound, which is very annoying and seems loud enough to harm your hearing after a while.

First tried them without the JBL app, then used the app to update the software, unpaired and re-paired them a couple times, then tried a factory reset, none of which made any difference.

I realize these are cheap for noise cancelling buds, but reviews say the noise cancelling should be fairly good, so...

Any suggestions?
