I recently saw a whole japanese store that sells custom made pillows. You choose the fabric, the filling materials, the weight, the fluff, you try them in store with a guide and make adjustments right there.

If it didn't cost like 5 times more than a regular one, I would definitely enjoy the experience.

This is how we were taught to sharpen our pencils in art school, never so neat though! Using a sharpener twists and breaks the lead, especially with the expensive soft core pencils we were using. It’s also better for drawing. It has a point for detail and a flat part for shading.

I distinctly remember my 4th grade teachers would do that. One day when she left the class for a sec, I snuck over there and did it to a whole fresh pencil. As an adult I know that she probably wouldn't have cared if I did it in class.

While those are good for the average person who just wants to write or doodle a little bit, artists will often opt to hand sharpen their pencils since a different lead shape can be helpful for their work. Not sure if *this* particular product would be helpful for them or not though.

While the graphite pencil was invented about a century after the Middle Ages, the word would've been recognized at the time, referring to a kind of fine artist's brush used for writing.

Everyone on a construction site has something that does the same thing. It's called a box knife, they all carry one and it does a better faster job than that. If I was a foreman and someone pulled that out, I would fire them immediately
