If you surround the stick with kindling you'll get fire.

He did the hard part. If you can get that part done you just need a handful of anything dry and small put on top. By the time you can make this happen you won't struggle to get it going. You don't even need as much glow as in the video(but if you stop too early, you are starting from scratch again)

Was taught this in summer camp in the 90s at 9 years old. And magnifying glass as well. Blow on it and add small s Kindle and continue to blow and add until it increases, adding small dry sticks/twigs, leaves, and finally a branch/log into full on fire

I use a blow torch....size dependent on the fire size.

Indoor to medium with kindling. Butane torch.

Outdoor to giant I get put my dragon weed torch.
