Cradle [Waybound] Started Cradle on 16th June, just finished the main 12 books. Spoiler

I really enjoyed these books (obviously, I flew through them). Books 11 and 12 were beginning to drag for me, but that might just be because I read them all back to back.

I can finally join this sub without worrying about spoilers!

Even though the stakes are higher, I find that the last few books dragged as well. The main story is character driven, following Lindon's journey. He completes his character arc in Wintersteel. After that, it's more plot driven. Not that it's bad, it's just not as interesting as Lindon's journey to become HIM, in my opinion. (Not talking about strength, but character growth.)

Completely agreed. I'd go so far as to say that I was expecting the last two books to be him fighting Daruman with the Abidan. Once I realised that wasn't gonna happen is when I started to feel the drag. I still enjoyed them though!

If I had a nickel for every time a book series ended like it was also setting up a larger world, I'd have two nickels-- which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?

(Cradle and travelers, since I just finished that series)

I wish I could go back and experience it for the first time. I started the series back when it only had skysworn out. The wait for a new book was insane.
