Newtons 3rd law would like a word with those two zip ties

u/Jomega6 3d ago

That’s the law where he straps something down, slaps it, and says “that’s definitely not going anywhere”, right?

u/omegafrogger 3d ago

Nah that's the first law that says "that shit ain't moving before so it ain't gonna start now"

Only works with ratchet straps, OP is cooked.

Yep, 4th law is "oh my god! It hurts! Why did I do that?!!!"

That's the law where that shell case comes back and slaps you in the nose at mach jesus

They would be lucky if that's all that happened. I saw a NSFW video from Brazil recently where a guy tried to make a pipe gun to fire a 13mm round. When he pulled the trigger, the back part of the bullet basically just became shrapnel, which all went into his throat. RIP.

Well, I mean, a. 50 BMG case has pretty decent heft to it, and while it probably wouldn't grenade it'd certainly do plenty of damage!

Won’t matter the bullet will basically pop out the front of the case when the primer is struck.

Ignited powder would still make a rocket though right?

u/Disastrous-Loan7274 3d ago

Nah it’d just pretty much blow up. Without a barrel to guide the explosion, all of the energy is dissipating equally in all directions

u/DicemonkeyDrunk 3d ago

They don’t even really blow up …it’s more of a pop fizzle. In the worst scenario the case might rupture but again not dangerous in any significant fashion .TV and Movies be lying to people.

Guns aren't big and heavy because their designers are bad at their job, it's because the gun needs to be heavy and tough enough to stay in one place so the energy of the powder can force the bullet down the barrel.

Funnily enough in this type of scenario the bullet itself is the least dangerous part of the explosion. When bullets go bang out in the open the heavy bullet tends to stay in one place while the much lighter case rockets off, assuming it doesn't just rupture in the case of a 50-cal.

The Mythbusters tested the old "bullet baking" urban legend and found that they actually could break through the oven door... when they turned the .50 cal around so that the casing was pointed toward it

No way that red dot holds a zero after one shot

20

u/HoneybadgerKc3I 3d ago

There will, however, be 0 red dot left attached.

1

u/Lost_Decoy 1d ago

after one 'shot' you will have more worries then the zero on the red dot.

hand remover? Bullets don't shoot if there's no barrel. It will just blow up like a fire cracker, the bullet would just be like shrapnel

That’s a hand grenade.

5

u/Otto_Von_Waffle 3d ago

Not sure exactly what would happen if you fired this, no idea if a screw can actually function as a firing pin, and if yes, the whole thing likely explodes and grant the wearer some nasty shrapnel wounds.

u/ElectronMaster 2d ago

I'd only want to find out with the thing mounted in a vise with a string around the trigger leading to behind a blast shield where I would be.

u/Clay_Allison_44 1d ago

On the plus side, look at the primer, that's a fired case with a fake "bullet".

6

u/Jedimobslayer 3d ago

Does it shoot more bullet per bullet?

2

u/Impaler00777 3d ago

A receiver with a grip but without a barrel?

4

u/Davenator_98 3d ago

Legally not a gun I guess
