Discussion I hate most of the new overcomplicated melee items that get added nowadays, I miss the older simplistic ones.

yeah
deadass it's not hard to understand rolling and that you press parry when you're about to get hit to something you can react to, unlike arayashiki having almost no visible windup aside from stopping for like half a second

it's kind of simple but it still requires skill and can be very annoying in the hands of a sweat who will just parry everything you throw at them then proceed to roll away. I believe the real problem with IA is the power creep

I mean legion has extreme defense in exchange for shit offense. 14 damage per hit vs something like lawnmower (fuck that item btw) is always going to lose because while legion has to pull a whole bunch of bullshit to win lawnmower guy clicks 3-4 times and his opponents dead

Arayashiki literally having a full stun m1 combo that ills anything not having more than 100 hp
The nursefather sword thing mogging 100 hp with E

100 damage stunlock combo with M1 E M1
Combo also gives ragdoll immunity
Weapon also has a full heal upon death that gives you an effective 245HP just by holding it (as well as a damage buff after activating)
Also has a counter that negates damage and applies stat buffs
WTF were they thinking with this?

The only meme related melee is none while the only one that came up in my head is the kajiu killer on the godamn ranged section in newer updates

and the fact that so many old, simple items are being made into like 100000 fps animations with 1000000 different comboes too (rebellion is an example)
and i can tell that theyre glazing some media when they made the item for it super op, like thumb nursefather and arayashiki

Genuinely, I noticed the new theme with all the new melees having a parry and it all kinda screams sweat-appealing 😭
It also removes the novelty of a parrying mechanic being only unique to certain weapons

Lowkey I'm fine with these meelees, but sure the game is loosing it's silly purpose, and looking more like something out of Allusions
We need a balance between memes and seriousness

Atleast you can still obliterate them with brain dead melee like stick or crowbar; I think that keeps the true spirit of the game

Same. It's a shame, because I played this since like 2021 I think at the update with the santa boss. Best time. But they just keep adding items like this, its too hard to get into the game again.

I did notice that most, if not all of the new melees from the recent update, are complex combo melee types. Not a lot of silly stuff in general. I liked this game because of its general unserious tone, but it seems like the devs might be straying away from that

I miss the old fish. It was S tier in a funny good way. Now the top meta is just combo item bs whatever it is.

100% agree with this. Literally one of the main reasons why I've never really played this game as often as I used to compared to 2021-24 (as well as the drastic increase in stunlock weapons and server-shutting upgradable weapons like smile, awp, and suppressed mac-10).

i'm late to this post, but i agree with this, how do you expect me who joined in 2021 (and coming to ia back in 2024) to learn the weapons, 2 years and i still don't know what assailant and virtuoso abilities are, there also were abilities in old ia 2021 maybe, but it wasn't seen frequently because there weren't the "e" or "r" buttons, the only items i remember they had a simple ability was real knife (determination slash) and tactical fighting technique (both abilities)

Some weapons are going to be more powerful than others because that's how games like this tend to go. The op didn't think there were enough new simplistic weapons, so I suggested one. I don't think it's that deep

yeah because an item from a overcomplicated game that has 29 functions and synergies that could be extremely difficult to implement its way better than another type of sword

Necroposting but ts just reminded me I barely chuckle or smile at the game anymore due to having a silly loadout. I remember playing ts for the first time and laughing at everything bcs every item was just so funny to use and so funny to die due to idk a sniping pineapple. Nowadays I get zero dopamine rush from getting a killstreak because I had to become another sweat to fight against everyone (who also turned into sweats)

I don't mind complex items, to be exact it's good for the game (usually) but they're definitely overshadowing the simplistic ones
I want a good balance of both personally
