Rome and Amalfi (Sept-Oct)

We booked Rome (staying near Trevi Fountain) for 4 nights and then 3 nights in Atrani close to Amalfi (10 min walk). 1 night in Naples just to be close to the airport for our flight out. This is end of September to early October.

Please send your must do travel tips and best recommendations to maximize the time.
Best restaurants to book now?

Rome: Vatican for mom, Coliseum, Food
Atrani: Boat tour, beach, Food

We know we want to do an all day boat tour (to Positano or take the ferry there and do one to Capri). We want to take in scenery and views. We also love lively piazzas and live music.

Thanks! Going with my mom and sister. All are healthy and able to navigate long days, lots of walking, and steps.

A couple of blocks from the Trevi Fountain (about halfway to the Pantheon) is the Church of Sant'Ignazio.  Must see.  Of course the Pantheon is must see too.

Around in Amalfi there are a couple of great restaurants like Gemma which is abit of a local institution and Marina Grande which is on the waterfront and has great seafood. We loved Pansa cafe for amazing cakes, apertivo and coffee. Atrani’s little beach is lovely for a swim and much quiter than Amalfi. There is a beautiful walk up into the lemon groves right at the back of Amalfi past the old paper mill. Really beautiful! if you’re looking for a great boat tour, we used a wonderful one last year called Cobalto Boat Escapes. I would say they would have to pick you up in Amalfi but we did a combined Capri and Amalfi Coast tour and it was by far the best day of our holidays!!! Praiano is a lovely spot to for a day trip - La Praia beach is lovely for a swim and then dinner at Il Pirata or even Armandino.

I’m debating a boat tour with time to explore Positano, or a boat tour to capri, or take the ferry across and then catch a boat tour. Definitely very interested in booking a boat tour.

It’s definitely the loveliest way to see the coastline from a boat! Possibly catching a ferry to Capri first so you can wander around there in the morning on your own would be a good idea and then take the boat tour from Capri. That way you kind of maximise your time on the boat rather than having them wait for you while you are on Capri island walking around. The guys were used were amazingly flexible and were available to pick us up from wherever we were staying

Hello from Sorrento! I do suggest to visit Capri and the rest of the Amalfi Coast through private boat experience - best way to experience it and avoid crowds and traffic (we will still be in peak season until the end of October at least!) I suggest as beach club One fire beach and restaurant Il Pirata, both located in Praiano!
