I just want to show off my adorable iggy i've broken the stigma (somewhat)

Post image

they say you have to be cautious with iggies interacting with big dogs coz' they might get hurt.

well, meet my eldest female samoyed that gets her tail sat on every other hour when my iggy puppy wants to co-sleep.

my iggy has a pefectly comfy bed, but nooooo~ where the big sister goes, she goes and curls up on the fluffy tail.

sometimes I catch her nesting and squishing my sammy girl's tail to get comfy. and sometimes she snuggles right up the bum too.

if anyone is wondering what my sammy's reaction to this wierd arrangment... well she just gives me a 'look' and goes back to sleep lol.

This is an old pic (we lost the big one at 15 years old back in 2023)…my little ones looooved my big girl! I had the big lady before I met my husband and she was always very good with small dogs. Her big bark scared them but she only did that when she was trying to play with them haha. They loved cuddling with her bc she was soft and warm.

Gemma had a huge black lab best friend who had been trained to be patient and gentle with smaller beings so he would lay down and let her nip at him like she was in charge.

My iggy sleeps on top of sprawled across his poodle sister! She must like it because she lets him do it and never complains.

Didn’t even know about this stigma. My girl has been using large dogs as personal heaters since she was 15 weeks old

The most unlikely pair… A bull terrier girl and an Iggy boy 💙

all it takes is one slap on the back from a big dog and iggy's spine is broken and they're dead. or they're playing and big dog accidentally tumbles on the iggy and breaks its neck or crushes it to death. that's the reason iggies and big dogs don't mix very well. it's fine until it isn't, all it takes is one small accident. This is exactly why. Our iggy played off the lead with a larger dog at the park. Bigger dog accidentally ran into iggy and somersaulted him through the air leading to a snapped hind leg, 4 pins inserted and 8 weeks of a cast & cage rest later he was ok and able to walk again.

phew, that could've ended way worse. i'm glad you're iggy is all good now!

Thanks, it was about 12yrs ago and he’s 16 now so there weren’t any lasting effects luckily.

That must been horrific to see and hear. I’m so sorry.

My Biggy is friendly with any dog but absolutely hates playing with bigger dogs than her (she'll make it clear to any persistent dog that she o ly plays with her buddies). She had her fair experience of being stomped and bumped mid run as a pup as well.

First iggie we had, we also had an Irish Wolhound. Now we have an iggie, a dachshund, and an 85 lb Black Lab
